I bought this vehicle on my 17th
birthday. I drove it for a month and
the front right brakes siezed. I
brought it back to the dealership and
1500 dollars later i had brand new
motor mounts, brakes, track bars and
new bushings. it had 140,000 miles on
it, so that is expected. It drives like
new, and the V* is awesome. I beat the
crap out of little wannabe civics. The
only thing I would change is the gas
mileage.

I've liked this car
enough to keep it
for 10 years,
despite several
design flaws,
because it's
comfortable, great
looking, easy to
handle, and the
interior is well
laid-out. I
replaced the
computer the
second month I
had it, and the
A/C system twice
in the last 4 years.
The rear-view
mirror has fallen
off the
windshield 3
times, and it gets
a vapor lock at
high elevations
(over 10,000ft). I
was really glad I
bought the
extended
warranty. I'm
planning to buy a
2003.

I bought this vehicle with 92'000 miles on it and now has 147'000 miles
I love this vehicle. People rather have a Grand Cherokee or they want one. .
I have just about $25'000 in my Jeep even though I bought it for only
$16'000. That means that about $9000 have been spent on repairs,
replacement of parts (some more than once).extremely horrible gas mileage,
in town or on the highway, burns oil, just fixed a major oil leak. If I were to fix
every single thing wrong with this vehicle, I would probably be able to say
that I have $40'000 invested in this vehicle which is pretty much the price of a
top of the line brand new Grand Cherokee Limited 2003 model year.

Basically, the only repairs beyond the
normal wear (battery, tires, brakes)
are:
REPAIRS
Radiator@90K-$235
Rear door gas spring@120K-$35
Rr axle shafts & Bearings@145K-$700
Water Pump@155K-$85
ExhaustHeaders@205K-$1200 (Tuned
Headers, cat, Muffler & tailpipe)
Air Conditioner@180K-$700 (at a shop)
That jeep commercial where they show a
mole tunnel of snow that comes to a
stop sign, stops, makes a turn and
keeps going. Well I laugh everytime I
see that commercial because it's just
about the truth. I don't think there
is anything that will stop a jeep
except someone who is out & out using
stupidity. Go for it own one, and
love the experience.

This vehicle is a reliable and able
SUV. Most mechanical problems
occurred in the first few years and
were covered under the warranty.
Interior and exterior have held up
well though you need a bug deflector
to protect the hood.

I've owned this '93 ZJ Jeep as well as
an '88 XJ. Both really have given me
good service. ZJ handles and rides more
confidently than the XJ(as well as
Explorer, Blazer,..others in it's
class). At 150K have had some high
maintenance bills but due to neglect of
poor upkeep by prev. owners not the
product itself. Happy w/ my 5-SPEED ZJ
(1 of apprx. 1400)...just ashame there
wasn't a demand for more of them!

I bought this bad boy used in late 1995
with 38k on it. While it has never
left me stranded or failed to start, it
ha been a money pit for the last few
years with $1500-2000 per year going
towards major repairs. I just found out
today it needs new brakes (again) and
about $800 in engine work. I told the
shop to do the brakes and forget the
rest. I plan on just keeping the oil
changed and some new plugs until the
thing wants to run no longer, which may
be soon. While it has been a fun car,
I would not buy another one due to the
poor build quality and repair expense.
I would not recommend a used one as a
purchase unless you posses mechanical
abilities and can do major repairs on
your own.

I purchased a used jeep grand cherokee limited 5.2 V8. the V8 puts out a clasic all american rumble while idling. it may be slow from the start but over 40 mph it has serious accelleration. the ride at high speeds might be a little over bearing but that's why thy come with a radio?! right. it may be a luxury car but who says u can't push it. and this car is made for pushing. desipite it being an SUV i have never had any troubles with it tipping or tire problems.
