Review

So far my new jeep is fun to drive and draws lots of attention, seems to be well built and designed. For us this was the only midsized SUV with 3rd row seating in our price range....nothing else compares, poor mans Land Rover...This is our 3rd SUV of sorts, SportTrac and a Explorer, we looked at this car when we bought the 07 explorer, pricing made it unaffordable, now its the best option

Favorite Features

Suggested Improvements

Blind spot in rear window is really bad, if driver is short or 3rd row seating will be used in recommend the back-up camera as an option.

Review

I got 1 of these 2 days ago as a loaner while my 09 Honda Element was being worked on. First customer; 60 miles on the odo. Initial drive of 220 miles, all highway, gave me 16mpg. The V6 was so weak I actually popped the hood to see if someone had stuck a 4-cylinder engine in there. Return drive, also 220 miles, average 17.5 mpg. Engine still wimpy as hell. Use cruise control, and don't worry about the road ... you'll get there, whenever. :( I cannot believe that there are cars like this made in 2010. My Element is a 4 (built on a CR-V platform) and unchanged for 7 years. It outperforms this hulking piece of soon-to-be-clunker in every category: carry space, power, ergonomics...

Favorite Features

Some big chrome splashes (the rims, AT gearshift knob, door pull handles). Interior lighting is stellar, like a 1920s railroad salon car. People *respect* this large chunk of hurtling steel, like my 1998 GMC Yukon.

Suggested Improvements

Lose a couple tons of useless dead weight, fix the gear ratios and powertrain, and copy the Japanese interior. The Commander should have over 100 cu ft. of usable carry, based on its outside dimensions. (The Element's designed in CA and built in OH.)
