2006 Jeep Commander Limited 4dr SUV 4WD (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

The only difference between new and old Commanders is age and engine h.p. Otherwise, not much changes. It is way overpriced new. Resale value is very poor. It is FULLTIME 4x4. Why? Is it that hard to push a button. Just think of the mpg increase if you could switch to 2WD. 12mpg is lucky in town. 17mpg is pretty standard. Put in E3 spark plugs and K&N air filter (averaged 19.1mpg on a 265 mile trip. Don't plan on hauling around above average height people in the back seat, especially if you are tall. Air cond. will go out. A plate protecting the lines will hold sand and salt causing leaks. If you own a Commander get rid of this plate, replacement of these lines... around $1200.

Favorite Features

Rides very nice. A taller person such as myself (6'-3") can be very comfortable, unless you have people in the back seat. There is a large cargo area if the seats are folded down and there is only 2 of you travelling. Headlights & driving lights are AWESOME, however you WILL have dash/command center lighting issues. Specifically, the heat control lights. OH. The leather seats in the 06' are NOT leather. Stereo ROCKS! Only 2 cup holders up front. Sunroofs are cool, would be cooler if the back 2 flipped up. Way rear seats are useless your hauling mini people. The roof rack is very rugged. Back up sensors are very accurate. On my 3rd window switch, this time its the back passenger

Suggested Improvements

This is a JEEP. Give the owners the option of driving in 2WD. Hence, better gas mileage. Tow hooks front and rear as well as a CLASS III hitch standard. Any engine option for this type of vehicle both 2WD and 4x4 should be no less than 300h.p. Level it out! Why does the front end have to sit lower than the back. Again...IT'S A JEEP people!!! Roof light rack/bar above windshield (like the Liberty) should be standard on Limited versions. A more sporty wheel. Dual exhaust. Hooks in the cargo are for hanging things. More air tight engine compartment (have to wash my motor @ least 3 times a year, dust/dirt). Dash rear hatch button. Real leather seats! Tilt wheel like in a GM truck
