    I had that same sound on my 93 and 95 cherokees and was told that the cause was the air conditioner. don't completely understand the science of them but the coolant in the air conditioner is just flowing back into the compressor and nothing to worry about.

    According to my 1997 JGC Chrysler shop manual. The flasher is in the inside fuse panel. On my car fuses are inside the kick panel below and to the right of glove box.

    The crankshaft position sensor is a fail item. It's a challenge to get at, but can be done as long as you have an extended tool set. When that gadget isn't working right, the engine barely runs.

    i would try the crank sencor as the magnets that control the crank sencor are perminat and the only whay that they can getoff is to have the crank brake or bolts to fly wheel come loose (if thwat happened you would hear a hole bunch of noise ubder your jeep)

    Your clunking noise sounds like problems with wheel bearings in front hub. I wonder if this noise only happens when you're in full-time 4 wheel drive ? ? if so try driving just in 2 wheel-drive, and see what happens, but either way, get the front wheel bearings checked, cheers, Garry7

    I had the same problem with my 1997 Jeep driver door speaker. It seems the connection is lost between the rubber boot between the door and the speaker. I put a new wire from that location to the door and corrected the problem.

    Yep, the speaker in my driver door has quit as well. If I open the door and wiggle the wiring tube, it kinda looks like an accordian, the speaker will cut in and out. I bet your window problem is the same. BTW: I have an '01.

    I don't think I'd trust Best Buy when it comes to diagnosis of your problem. It's not difficult to remove the door panel and investigate the speaker. Maybe a wire came loose. While you are in there you can also test the window switch. If you not able to do this yourself... take it to a Jeep dealer for qualified repair.

    Boy, I really wouldn't recommend that. ABS brakes pulsate when you get on them hard but they're supposed to do that. "Stomp and steer" is what they say. Why do you want to disable them?

  • taking out ABS brakes jeep grand cherokee 1997

    Would I be able to take out the ABS fuse for my brakes and would they still work fine. I really don't like the way they work when I have to hit the brakes hard. Also is the fuse wired into anything else that would crap out if i took it out.

    This maybe a foul ess, but sometimes when an engine is very hot a vapor lock occurs, and the gasoline in the fuel lines evaporate. This is very common in high performance engines especially on very hot days. I am not saying this could be your problem, but it's a possibility.     I am having the same problem with my 1995 grand cherokee. and i have also noticed that when its really hot, thats when i have the stalling while driving. If you have any luck please help!

    my crank sensor was replaced twice. no luck. jeep still stalls while driving down the interstate. we've noticed, though, that it takes about 15 miles. we're thinking it's an engine temperature thing.

    We have a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and had some of the same problems you mentioned. Stalled at intersections; drive it awhile, parking it, then wouldn't start again; etc. According to the dealership service department, the problem was a bad crank sensor. Had it replaced. Problem solved.

    this is what we've replaced so far: spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor, distributor cap, ignition coil, fuel pump, fuel filter, map sensor, distributor (which included the cam shaft sensor), catalytic converter and muffler (twice), crank shaft sensor, ignition coal again. this is in reference to my previous message, #1427
