Jaguar XJ-Series

Re: gregg [marsha7]

I don't think Ford dealers ever serviced Jaguars, except for the odd used one bought at a Ford dealer. Lots of service centers can service Jaguars...it doesn't necessarily have to be a dealer. The 2004 and up XJ is classified as a large car. The 2003 and before was considered mid-size by the EPA. The legroom in a regular wheelbase XJ now is within half an inch of the ... Read More...

Re: While comparing reviews of [marsha7]

Have you looked at a 2004 and up? They lengthened the wheelbase and raised the ceiling a bit, so you have more rear seat room. The L version has reclining rear seats, so you don't actually get the full wheelbase stretch for that model in additional leg room. The 2005 Jag has one of the best reliability/build quality ratings in its class. Jaguar, not Ford, provides ... Read More...

High End Luxury Cars

Re: Looking to Buy in the next Few Months [houdini1]

Sometime in the next few months I will be buying a new car. Right now my candidates are: 1 or 2 year old LS 430 or 460, Acura RL, and though I know little about it there is something about the Hyundai Genesis that fascinates me. The best year to get for an LS430 is a 2004. If you're looking in the full size lux class, I think the Acura RL would probably be too small. It's really ... Read More...

Re: Advice on 2004 Jaguar XJ8 [kothi77]

You can do better on the price, unless this is a certified car through a Jag dealer. If it is another extended warranty you are looking at, be careful and research it. Go to autotrader.com. I think they allow you to put in three models in one search. Do years 2004 to 2006, models XJ, Van den Plas, and XJR, and up to 100 miles from your home. You will see that prices are all ... Advice on 2004 Jaguar XJ8

I am currently looking to buy a 2004 Jaguar XJ8 with ~38k miles for around $23K. This vehicle was leased. I wanted to know if there are any maintenance that needs to be done at 40k or 50k miles (i.e. flushing the radiator, etc.) Also is this a good price for the vehicle. In addition, should I get the extended warranty and what is cover by the extended warranty. I am new ... Read More...

Re: throttle body problem [nomasjag]

When I purchased my '01 XJ8 in July 2004 the car died with my wife while I was on a business trip. With the "Limp Home" feature she was able to drive it home. Being that it was a certified pre-owned, we called the dealer and they sent a tow truck to pick it up and also drop off a loaner. The diagnosis was a bad throttle body. Since the car was still under warranty, the dealer ... Read More...

Re: Why not buy? [foster1]

The 1990 xj and others of its model were fraught with self-inflicted problems. (Jaguar engineers/designers, either didn't know or didn't care about what they were doing); so, the results are well known but the overall style of the car still had its litheness of line that has always attracted so many admirers. The last year for this feline look was 2004. Since ... Read More...

Jaguar XJ-Series: Sudden Acceleration

Re: Jaguar acceleration [larry67]

Same happened to me today in slow traffic. My 2004 xj8 accelerated towards the car in front of me after I had stopped about two yards behind the car. The breaks were pretty much useless. I was stopped by the bumper of the car in front of me. I had experienced that before stopping at a main intersection and the car tried to pull me into the crossing lane. I thought that ... Jaguar acceleration

Add another name to the list. Last week my wife's 2004 Jag accelerated as she was parking the car in a mall parking lot. Luckily, she was stopped by a shrub and not a car on either side. She has the all wheel drive x-type. Read More...

Jaguar XJ8 Lease Questions

Re: Jaguar XJ8: Lease Questions [oahz]

Hello: I just purchased a 2004 X-Type (used, of course) with 23,000 miles, automatic. I've been reading this forum and am extremely concerned that I bought a car with a history of mechanical and reliability problems (of course, I did not do this research until AFTER I bought the car). Given what I am reading about jags, I am looking to get an extended warranty, just ... Read More...
