Jaguar XJ-Series Electrical Glitches
1996 XJ6 won't start, bad ign sw, relay or module ???
I have a 1996 XJ6, 4.0 116k miles. I tried starting it and heard a click but nothing happened at the switch. Checked the battery and found it to be low at 9.3V so I added another battery but every thing acted like it was in a low voltage mode at the panel. Installed a new battery but still no response. Guages etc. now bright but no dome, trunk or head lights. I do have little ... Read More...

Re: 1996 XJ6 - Stereo Problems (Again!) [nvbanker]
I have ben to Best Buy, and searched the internet (Crutchfield, etc.). No one seems to make a mounting kit or bracket. Does Jaguar sell stereos and/or mounting kits that I can buy and have installed? I would rather have a nicer, factory system (Harmon-Kardon, maybe?) But it is looking like I don't have very many choices available to me. Read More...
New Aluminum Jaguars (XKR) - What do you think?
New aluminum 2007 Jaguar XK
Autoweek.com said on August 26th that the 2007 XK weighs 3,671 pounds and will have 300 hp. Jaguar's V-8 first came out in 1996 on the 1997 XK8. It goes on sale next spring and has a 31% increase in bodyshell stiffness over the previous generation steel-bodied XK. It uses the new XJ's aluminum chassis. It has a more blunt front bumper in order to comply with new European ... Read More...
XJ6 Conversation
Just a note to those who still own the last years of the great XJ6's [1996-1997] which are refined and the best of the XJ6's. I just thought it would be nice to hear if anyone has some notes to share ? I am amazed at the mileage some have racked up with great reliability and, as always, with so much enjoyment. I still look forward to driving Jaguar automobiles after all ... Read More...
Re: 1999 Jaguar XJ8 or 1997 Jaguar XJ6? [masteryoda2]
Let me "throw in some thoughts". I firmly believe, based on experience, that the late model XJ's >1996-1997- are the very best of the series. They represent the end point in the perfection of the in line 6 which is one of the best, if not the best, engines that Jaguar has built....a true workhorse, long lasting and very reliable. On the other hand, the "first editions ... Read More...

This is amazing. (Last Post) "In your previous post the chart showed 700+ units and you said that was US sales???? I accept 1700+ for the SL500....Allante sold 6700 in 93." No chart or link I ever posted said anything like that. Period. It said (they MBUSA.COM) said 1721 sales for 1993. End of story. You said 700 or 800 in your confused state. The link didn't change ... Aluminum a mistake in mass-produced cars?
In response to Pat's request for discussion of other marques, I pose this question: Is Jaguar making a big mistake building their new XJ series in aluminum? I think so, because: 1) The XJ is already the lightest model in its class, so losing weight need not be the updated model's first priority. 2) Aluminum vastly increases the costs of manufacture and repair. ... 1996 Jaguar XJ, Should I?
To all owners past and present, I am seriously thinking about a 1996 sedan, with 80,000 miles. I am used to driving 1960's Fords and Lincolns. Will a Jaguar cause me to lose my mind and my retirement savings? I realize that maintenance will be high but are there idiosyncrasies in this car that are way out of the expected? As an example of what I mean; I was interested ... Read More...
