Jaguar XJ-Series

Well.. The XJR is an excellent car! As far as reliability goes, if you buy a 1995, you really want to try and stay with a 5-95 or later production car. I.E. Go for a 1996. As far as warranties go.. the problem with Jaguars is that the still have lousy ratings in the actuarial tables that these warranties are based on (Irrespective that an XJ8 is a more reliable car than ... Kevin and Maintenance

Kevin, I have a 1995 XJ6 and there are a couple of places to get help for maintenance. I purchased a factory manual reprint from a guy on e-bay for $300. It's not too bad but it does leave some things to be desired. I have found the best bet is to subscribe to alldatadiy.com. It costs $24.95 per year and is worth EVERY penny. All the diagrams and instructions and directly ... Read More...

A New Convert

I have been looking to purchase a new car for a number of months but nothing has really struck me as worth the investment. I currently have a BMW 1995 325i convertible that is aging and needs some work to bring it back. Thinking about trading up to a new car I went in to a Florida dealer to test drive the new "X" but was not really impressed. Nice car but didn't seem to have ... Read More...

Jaguar Recalls: '94-'96 XJ12 ; '95 to '96 XJS; '95-'97 AJ16 4.0L

In the news today: BY DAN HART BLOOMBERG NEWS WASHINGTON -- Ford Motor Co.'s Jaguar unit is recalling about 3,550 of its 1994 to 1996 XJ12 and XJS sedans because faulty emission-control parts may cause the cars to exceed U.S. air-pollution standards, a government agency said. About 550 XJ12s from 1995 and 1996 have a problem with the air-pump check valve, while ... Read More...

New in "Town Hall"

I am about to make the big step and purchase a 1995, XJ6, BRG. 74K miles for $15K. Although this is the car I have wanted in a long time, the only thing more I would want would be the convertable. But being from Minnesota the smartest move is the sun roof instead. I also drove the VDP, 1996, supercharged, but felt it was way too fast for me. I had a big problem keeping it under ... New Jaguar owner or not

I have been looking at an XJ6, 1995, 4 door, British Racing Green. It is the car I have been wanting for years. They are going to sell it to me for $15K. I believe that it is a fair price with 74K miles. My husband works at the Jaguar dealership and had the mechanic check it out. They also have the service records on it. He says it is a good deal. I am just nervous about the cost ... Read More...

Jag nomenclature (Confusing as that word I just used)

A "real" XJ6, according to purists, anyway, are the models made from 1969 until 1987. XJ40's are the more squared off Jags (look for rectangle taillights) from 1988 until 1994, and the X300 is the 1995-1997 Jags. Some call the 1998 & newer X300's, and some call them the X308, the last number denoting the V-8 engine. Sound simple enough? Now for the really confusing ... Read More...

Dream car or Not?

I found a 1995 XJ6 with 56,000. It looks in excellent condition...however, from reviewing previous discussions here, believe I need to have a mechanic check it out. Please list specifically what I should mechanically check out and anything else I need to know. I am new to the jaguar world, but LOVE the car! I think the asking price is too high $21,999. It appears ... Read More...

I got it - Thanks Bill

Well I am now the proud owner of a 1995 XJ6, Topaz/Oatmeal with 53,000 miles on it. The guy wouldn't go below $18,900 but it checked out great at the dealer. Only items it needs are rear brake pads, alignment (I don't notice it but the dealer mentioned the steering wheel doesn't sit perfectly straight), and ABS ground wires. So now my questions are: 1) what type of ... Read More...

Turbine wheels

Does anyone know where I can see a clean picture of the 1995 (or so) Jaguar Turbine style wheels? It would be even cooler to get a clean look at them on a Jag. Thanks! Read More...
