Fast and Luxurious
Vehicle
2004 Jaguar XJR 4dr Sedan (4.2L 8cyl S/C 6A)
Review
At first I wasn't sure I liked the taller and wider exterior styling but now am getting used to it. Not as sleek as my 99 XJR but a whole lot better car. Ride is noticably better and handling much more precise. Faster too and is much quieter, both inside and from outside. Easier to wash and wax with fewer sharp corners and edges. Shifts too quickly from 1st to 2nd gear but is better in sport mode. The seats are now very comfortable and deep enough to support thighs properly. The wide tires take a set when cold and bump until warmed up.
Favorite Features
Love the awesome power and precise handling and also quietness. Navigation and touch screen controls are great. Mileage good for 390hp car. Great stereo.
Suggested Improvements
Footwell lighting (ala Mercedes)would be nice. Restyle door handles and gas cap cover.
The best car I have ever owned

This is my third Jag, I started with a 89 XJ6, a 99 XJR and now the 04 XJR. I have always been pleased with Jags and have never had any problems in the past. The 04 is beyond superb from its power to its class and comfort. At high speeds it just glides, what a pick up in acceleration. The technology that comprises this car is just amazing, it has a leveling suspension, drives itself with the cruise, heated steering wheel etc.. I ordered mine with every option possible, wow, I feel spoiled. I've had everything from Rolls, BMW, Mercedez, Audi, Lotus, Cadillac etc.. this is by far the best. Thanks Jag for a fabulous car.
Favorite Features
Cruise control with breaking distance control, heated steering wheel, power, looks.
Suggested Improvements
The only thing I can think of is the ignition, with the new flip key set, it makes it quite long and my knee hits the key when I take my foot of the gas.
Bigger But Better

At first I was not crazy about the larger and taller exterior size but am now happier about it. The car is faster, quieter, handles much better, and is more comfortable than my 1999 XJR. Don't hit my head when entering anymore. Fuel consumption excellent for a car this powerful - average 17.4 so far, mostly in town. Easier to wash and wax with fewer sharp corners and seams. with fewer seams and sharp corners.
Favorite Features
Love the tight handling and great power with very little noise. The extra room in the trunk and interior is welcome and the adaptive cruise control is great although it takes getting used to.
Suggested Improvements
The car shifts from 1st to 2nd gear too quickly (my '99 didn't) although it performs better in sport mode. Low level floor ambient lighting (ala my wife's Mercedes) would be nice.
Nice new size Jaguar

Review
This new size is terrific for my husband. Old old Jaguar was lacking in head room. This new car is roomy, front and back, and it gets unbelievably good gas mileage, even in town. On the highway, it is fast and gets up to 28mpg.
Favorite Features
Power is awesome. It gets 28mpg on the highway. Interior is beautiful
Suggested Improvements
I don't think the rear end looks like a Jaguar - too generic.

Review
This car is without a doubt a truly wonderful machine to drive and to own. It's styling is exquisitely Jaguar and it's performance/handling is amazing. You can take Mercedes and BMW and show them the door - Jaguar has done it's job superbly with this car. I LOVE it.

Have had 7 and still have my first 1973 XKE.The last a 2002 XJR, the new 2004 is a much better car as far as ride, speed, tightness, better quality, less outside noise and they have added some high tech to compete with the Mercedes and BMW. Xenon self leveling lights, radar cruise control, folding mirrors, auto pull down trunk great sound system, Brembo brakes and Nav. system.Nice badging to tell it's a XJR and more.
Favorite Features
The comfort of drving 120 MPH effortlessly, listening to your favorite station with no noise from outside or car and think your going 50 MPH on a perfect level road.
Suggested Improvements
Cheap door sills, nicer head liner, ugly chrome door handles, driver side gas filler and a tone to tell you when turn signals are still on. Not as sleek as my 2002XJR. They're trying to please the average luxury driver with the new look and forgetting the purest Jag owner.
