I have exactly the same problem 1997 Jaguar XJ6. Power seat's don't work, mirrors don't work, and drivers side front window does not work. Since others have same problem maybe its one thing ( security module?) causing all three? has sanyone fixed this?

The new 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage uses a Jaguar 4.2 liter V-8, but the cylinder block, cylinder heads, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, camshafts, inlet and exhaust manifolds, lubrication system and engine management are all unique to the 4.3 V-8 used in the new Aston. Master: Your final 2 are really 2 different cars. The XJ6 is the old pre-Ford Jaguar design, a fine Cat, but complete with the Lucas electronics nightmares and prone to dropping a quart of assorted fluids nightly from various places under the car. Not a low maintenance car, but a thrill to drive, to be sure - when you have her running. The XJ-8 is the new Ford owned Jaguar design ... Read More

The1995-1997 XJ6 Jags were well engineered models in my opinion. They didn't have the reliability problems of prior models, however, the 1998-2003 XJ8's are the vehicles of choice. I would drive any of them, especially models after 2000. They enhanced the steering response and suspension of the 2000-2003 models that made the car even nicer to drive. I wouldn't touch a 2004 with a 10 foot pole. I cannot believe that ... Read More

Let me "throw in some thoughts". I firmly believe, based on experience, that the late model XJ's >1996-1997- are the very best of the series. They represent the end point in the perfection of the in line 6 which is one of the best, if not the best, engines that Jaguar has built....a true workhorse, long lasting and very reliable. On the other hand, the "first editions (1998-99 maybe 2000)" of ... Read More

Though I did like the XJS way back in the day, I really never really gave Jaguars too much thought until the 1997 XK8 showed up. Then came the 2000 S-Type and now the 2004 XJ. The XK is still as timeless as day one. Remarkable. The 2000-2002 S-Type was not up to the Jaguar name imo. The cheap Ford touches were everywhere. Then for 2003 the car got its first ... Read More

The new aluminum XJ is all-Jaguar. British Leyland certainly didn't help Jaguar much in the 1970s and 1980s. They gave them the horrible reliability that they are known for to this day. Millions were invested in the 1995-1997 XJ and it is still a very reliable car. Jaguar's V-8 is an all-Jaguar V-8.
