GS and IS, even in their best years, could not begin to compare to ES and RX sales. The same can not be said of E class. That's why GS and IS in their waning years was nearly as significant the decline of E class. It will next time they do since they GS and now IS are big contributers to Lexus' sales now. You won't be able to fall back ... Read More

Written by: sldelhaas on Jul 20, 2005 3:48:51 PM

Hello Jaguar fans, I have purchased a 1993 XJ6 and when I start the car in the morning the oil pressure is fine. Once warmed up after 10 min. or so the pressure gauge drops to 0 at idle and goes back up at about 1800 rpm. Can somebody help me finding out what is wrong? Thanks, Steven Delhaas

  • transmission oil in intake manifold

Written by: desertjoe on Jul 19, 2005 8:19:55 PM

I have a 1993 Jaguar XJ6 with 48,501 miles that started using 1/2 qt. transmission oil per 400 miles. That progressed to 1 qt. per 400 miles to the point it lost all power and would not start. After checking compression, i removed the head and found all piston tops covered w/ a oily residue and gasket had been bypassing between #2 and #3 and #4.The intake manifold venturie had oil ... Hello, I am new to this forum but am in dire need of help. I own a 1993 Jaguar XJ6 and when my RPMs are low (idle) my oil pressure gauge drops down to "0" and and the low oil pressure light on the dash lights up. However, when I rev the engine to above 20 grand, it goes right back up to where it should be "4". I checked the ... Read More

I can't believe it. One of my wishes has come true! Mercedes-Benz has just decided to sell a S350 Sedan here for the final run of the current S-Class! Very interesting move. You know what this means right? They're getting buyers ready for the next-generation S350 as the entry level S-Class. http://www.mbusa.com/brand/container.jsp?/models/main.jsp&modelCode=S350V I can't believe it! It is a short wheelbase model though. The S65 AMG has also been released too. ... Read More

Hi All,  Toyota prices the LS for less because it's more efficient to begin with. The TPS mantra they follow is the best in the industry. They fully utilize the benefits of platform sharing and not offering numerous engine types..Hence their strong financials. Their cars are built primarly by robots, hence avoiding the union worker mess the Germans have to deal with..Basic economics will tell you the most efficient producer is ... Read More

  • 2004 VDP

    Written by: mgmmm1 on Oct 8, 2004 12:15:50 AM

Having leased the 2004 VDP last week(Slate-Ivory),(my fourth Jaguar), I wanted to pass along some info. I had the 1993 XJ-6 but only for a year. Have (still) the 1995 VDP with many, many repairs. Never got stranded ,but did I pay the dealer serious cash over the years.(The price of luxury! I guess!). Last year we got the S-type(2003) which has great ride manners and refinement in the Jaguar tradition. ... Read More

This is amazing. (Last Post) "In your previous post the chart showed 700+ units and you said that was US sales???? I accept 1700+ for the SL500....Allante sold 6700 in 93." No chart or link I ever posted said anything like that. Period. It said (they MBUSA.COM) said 1721 sales for 1993. End of story. You said 700 or 800 in your confused state. The link didn't change from one posting ... Read More

Some of the things the Allante can do it can sense the onset of traction loss and apply pulsed braking EVEN WHILE THE DRIVER KEEPS A FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. It can electronically cut out up to five of the eight clyinders to provideadditional slowing power, and bring them back on line when traction has been restored. It shifts its four-speed transmission electronically, guided by a computer that actually anticipates each ... Read More

"Do you think that if Mercedes went back to their former style that Lexus "copied" they would sell a lot more cars." I'm not sure actually. I think design wise they've never been better with the exception of the CLK and Maybach. Neither of those cars "look" like they should imo. I also think the SL could stand a few less frivolous details like on the sides and hood, but overall ... Read More

See how maxhonda99 and sv7887 got the point about models and sales trends, but no.... You and oac keep harping about sales of MB and BMW declining yet when I dare point out that Lexus has the same problem with one of their duds you all post the same thing over and over like in post #4752 because that's all you know, even though it doesn't pertain to the conversation. How can they test reliability when they only have the car for a week or so? They can't be the judge on that so why even try to rate that quality? Would you rather they guess about it? I haven't ever seen where they "dismiss" reliability, they simply don't cover it. Despite what the most loyal survey clutchers will say, Mercedes, Audis and other "unreliables" are able to keep it together ... Read More

  • S-Class vs LS430

Well, I've been a Mercedes officianado since learning to drive in a 66 230SL. Up until the 2000 SC-lass, I think the cars have been the best engineered production vehicles in the world, and the increasing price reflected that. The previous SC-lass (W140) was unduly criticized for its size and bulk, but what an impressive vehicle. I did notice a decontening in that car from 1993 until 1999 model year, but ... Read More
