Here is an article from another site entitled "Jaguar Feels Growth Pains". It initially seems negative towards Jaguar's expansion plans, but then it turns to a positive note. It was kind of interesting, a lot about the X-TYPE: <http://www.detnews.com/2002/autosinsider/0208/05/c01-553112.htm> Some quotes: -"Jaguar's sterling quality reputation, the result of a decade of hard work, took hits late last year when the all-new X-Type compact sedan drew complaints about vibrating propulsion shafts, rocking ... The X-TYPE now accounts for over half of Jaguar's total sales, and Jaguar's sales in the U.S. is up 62% for 2002, largely because of the X-TYPE. The very successful S-TYPE doubled sales for Jaguar when it was introduced, and now the X-TYPE must double that number. I have no doubt that it will. GO JAGUAR! there are already 14 tsbs out on the 2002 es300. most are minor issues, much like the x-type issues. the notion that the es300 has less though is absurd. there are 6 tsbs for the x-type. the tsbs for the x-type cover everything people have complained about except the washer nozzle issue, with that there are 7 problems. still half that of the es300, and i'm not counting issues that lexus ... "...but I must say that I do not think that Jaguar is having many more problems with any of their models than any other manufacturer." This is not true, especially compared to the Japanese cars. If you take a look at J.D. Power's latest study in 2002 initial vehicle quality (released yesterday) you'll see there's not a Jaguar to be found at the top of any list. Lots and lots of ... Well, I believe that Jaguars are not more scrutinized than any other better brand, especially the BMW (or MB). Believe me, Bimmers get their bad apples criticized to the n-th... However, it seems to me that they are not that many to criticize, including my last two ones, 1999 323i and 2002 325i. I agree with you that by having a high/luxury/better-brand car opens it to criticizing for even things that ... Read More

Just wanted you all to know that my Jag had developed two new problems in the past couple weeks. I had the trunk not closing problem, and I had a loud snapping-clicking sound coming from the shift lever area when I use the brake. The latter is some sort of shift-interlock mechanism that is acting up. I still had the vibration at 50+ mph, too, which they (the factory tech, the ... Read More

Today was one of the most exciting days of my life. I am now the proud owner of a brand-new 2002 Carnival Red Metallic Jaguar X-TYPE 3.0!!! The car is beyond perfection, and I adore it. Every inch of paint is perfect and smooth, and the ivory interior is absolutely meticulous. The ride is also smooth and sporty, but not harsh at all, and the powerful engine accelerates the car willingly ... Read More

I took the wife out to look at cars today. Until the baby-Jag came out, she never had an interest in test-driving cars. Anyway, I suggested she consider a VW Passat 4Motion GLS, but the truth is she really had her heart set on the Jag all along. We decided to try both and see which one we preferred. I ended up driving both cars. She doesn't much care how driveable ... Read More

Ford has changed the x-plan for jaguar this year. there is no longer an "x-plan" there is now a "jaguar preferred" program offering cash back. the following is directly from the fordpartner.com site that was recently updated to give details: " Jaguar does not have an X-Plan pricing program. Jaguar customers negotiate their purchase price with the dealer and are eligible for a customer cash allowance that varies by model. This ... Read More

Autolover2, the vehicle you probably heard about is Jaguars 2003 S-type R/Sport which is aimed at the BMW M5. The current 2002 sport has the interior/exterior/suspension upgrades, but the R/Sport will carry the new Jaguar 425hp 4.2L V8 and will best the XJR for 0-60 bragging rights.

I went for a test drive this past weekend and received the brochure WITH a "2002 Jaguar X-TYPE Color Guide" insert. There is no mention of a Westminster Blue. The only exterior colors shown were: Onyx White, Platinum, Titanium, Anthracite, Adriatic Blue [my personal favorite], Pacific (Blue), Phoenix (Red), Carnival Red, Topaz, Emerald (Green), and British Racing Green. I, too, am disappointed at the extraordinary markup of $6000 for the 3.0 ... Read More

The Westin Hotel down the street is having some sort of X-Type Fantasy Drive and has had a half dozen X-Types on display in front of the hotel. Anyone know anything about this promotion?
