I've been told by a shop that it will cost me $2500 for the y pipe and pre catalytic pipe (roughly $2100 just for the pipe). My 1995 Trooper was totaled by rear end collision. The motor had 140K miles, but ran perfectly. That was a few years ago. The most cost effective thing you can do is buy another Trooper that has a good motor but is rough otherwise so the price is low. Then go look for the supercharger add-on if you want a wild update. Type "Isuzu Trooper Supercharger" in a search engine.

My 2001 Trooper was using oil, enough that I could dump in another quart after 2000 to 3000 miles. Be careful about using to thick an oil. Some Troopers like the 3.2L 1995 have small oil passages that can cause a lifter clicking sound with too thick of oil, or with dirty oil. IMHO the path for oil consumption in Isuzu engines is piston blow by resulting in high crank case pressure resulting in a high flow rate of oily crank case air back to the enine air intake. Even though I don't have an LSD. Will the Isuzu LSD fit easily into my 1995.5 Trooper? Would it be a good junk yard part? Can the clutches and springs in the LSD junk yard part be replaced to make it like new? engine problems valve lifter noise
This as far as I know is limited to 1995 3.2L SOHC engines. There are small clearances and not hard enough metal in a couple of parts in the valve train that when the oil gets dirty fill with crud. Maybe the dash and controls will be different in the Ascender than in the TrailBlazer/Envoy. The Toyota./Chevrolet "Toylet" Prism is a Toyota rebadged as a Chevy and the controls in the Toylet are GM style while the Toyota Corrola version gets Japanese controls like the Camry. I did some experiments with my 1995 lifter tick prone Trooper-S 175hp SOHC. I found that the synthetic oil life could be extended 50% by changing just the filter. I was using 10W30 RedlineOil one time for this and 10W30 Valvoline Synpower the other time. Similar results, but I believe that the RedLineOil is a better product. I put RedLine synthetic in all but the brake fluid on my 1995 Trooper. I use only genuine Isuzu brake fluid and parts. I have been very happy with the RedLine oils in the differentials, but I cannot tell the difference from the original dino oil. I just purchased a 1995 Isuzu Trooper LS 52k miles. It's in great condition and I love it. Now, I'm just waiting to take it off road.
