So Obama is offering the cash for clunkers giveaway and it qualifies. We've owned this standard shift model for 15 years and 225000 miles, same strong engine, one replaced transmission and for the last 5 years an on road/off road car for a college student. Same son learned an important lesson, they go but don't stop in snow, but take an amazing licking so we put a front clip on it 7 years ago. Paint still shiny and consumes a bit of oil. Not sure he wants to give it up even for 4500 Obamabucks, not if they crush it he says, it deserves better. Honestly the clutch has been tedious but even the AC blows cold with no service on it ever. Can't say that about my Z71 pickup.
Favorite Features
Rugged 4 wheel drive system with NO electric servos to mess it up. Fantastic suspension and build. Massive cargo room (better than H2 check the specs). Over 120,000 miles before first brake job and good dealer experience.
Suggested Improvements
Clutch is touchy.

Review
Have owned this vehicle for 12 years and have put over 200k miles on it. Liked driving it from day one and still do; lots of room, plenty of power, very comfy, great visibility. Especially good in winter; 4wd, heated seats, headlight washers, heated mirrors & rear window. Very easy on tires; over 70k a set. The transmission is weak and have rebuilt it twice (sourced from GM!). Have also replaced a starter, master cylinder, and power steering pump. The rest has all been maintenance items. Starting to get some rust now so am looking at a later model!
Favorite Features
Spacious interior, reliability.
Suggested Improvements
Better transmission.

The body is tough, it withstands all weather. The exterior is plush and comfortable and durable. Reliability is good it can put alot of miles on and still maintain performance, with minor to major flaws in the system. The fuel econmony is great if your vehicle is in pretty good shape. It is fun to drive. The overall performance is good.
Favorite Features
The way you can put the seats down to make more room. There are two cup holders and the mirrors fold in with a touch of a button.
Suggested Improvements
The power steering pump and box should be built better and the brake system should be made to last longer.

High Mileage
Vehicle
1994 Isuzu Trooper 4 Dr SE 4WD Wagon
Review
Bought the car new by trading in a lemon BMW and junker Wagoneer. Car has absolutely been one of the most reliable I have ever been associated with. Only work done was a starter, A/C clutch and compressor, rear wheel bearing and ignition wires and coils (just now). I drive it every day, have towed campers and boats, and generally used it for everything imaginable. Doesn't use any oil, always starts and the finish has held up well. With the age now some of the upholstery and dash plastic is beginning to show wear.
Favorite Features
Just a great big SUV that has run and run for me.
Suggested Improvements
Bring them back. A diesel engine for better mileage.

A car you can love
Vehicle
1994 Isuzu Trooper 4 Dr S 4WD Wagon
Review
I have never found another car that I loved like this. I must finally part with it after 14 years, and I have spent the last few hours holding back tears. The engine is and has always been great. Mechanics say the engine is good for another 150,000 miles, even with its current 168,000. We have not been as good to it as it has been to us, however, and now we must sell it. As I sit here and think about why this is really a unique SUV, it dawns on me. Every other SUV I have ever ridden in feels like you are in an SUV. In the Trooper, it feels like you are riding in a convertible, like there are no walls or roof. You are not contained within a vehicle; you are free to roam as you please. Enjoy.
Favorite Features
Besides the features that I love about SUVs, the two most unique are: with a flip of a switch, every air vent can open like a window to fresh air. I have nevers seen this in any other car. Second is the clutter free, easy to use/easy to read console. Struggles with radio and programming nevermore.
Suggested Improvements
The only two improvements I would make are neccesary simply because they were not around in 1994. 1- Airbags. 2- An updated 4 wheel drive. I don't mind putting the car into reverse for when I need 4X4, but for serious off-roaders it may be an annoyance.
