the 3 clicks rule is so you dont suck air into your gas cap. if you dont use the 3 clicks rule your car will suck up gas causing your vechicle to stall and the check engine light will come on.
Hi, I am an owner of a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo. I am wondering if you have had any issues with your ABS? My ABS light has been on intermittently since 2004. I found out recently that there had been a recall notice in 2003 to replace the ABS Integrated Coil Module on 1998 and 1999 Rodeos... but only in the United States. I was told by Transport Canada that a recall ... Read More
You mentioned that your ABS light is on... did you have the recall on your ABS "Coil Integrated Module" done back in 2003-2004?
I own a 2003 Isuzu Rodeo, unfortunatley my wife didn't pay attention to the oil light. :-( Long story short, the engine needed replacement. I went to a local shop and they replaced the motor with a used one. The 4-wheel drive doesn't engage now and the shop is telling me it's not their responsibilty? Everything worked prior to the engine running out of oil. The shop replaced an acuater which ... Read More
Nothing free that I see in How To Find Your Car Owner's Manual Online. You can find repair manuals online (Online Repair Manuals).
We just got a 2003 isuzu rodeo s single owner with 94thous miles on it. Is there anything we need to be on the watch for? Look forward to any feed back. also looking for a free or downloadable owners manual for it if any one has any ideas. Thanks
I bought a new aftermarket locking gas cap and every since then I've been getting the CEL to come on sporadically. The CEL does turn off after the computer cycles enough times to clear. Going to try the battery cables. I only get the CEL every so often now, because I realized you have to keep on-a-clickin' the cap.
Three clicks on the fuel cap are NOT enough! Upon refueling my gas tank on my 2003 Isuzu Rodeo and following the 3-clicks rule, the Check Engine Light (CEL) came on! When I stopped to make sure the fuel cap is tighten, the warning message on the fuel cap "Check Engine Light may come on" stands out like "I told you so". When I got home I got on Google and ... I'm looking into purchasing a 2004 Rodeo. Just basic RWD and Preferred Equipment Package 2WD, This basic class of transportation that I'm in the market to buy. Pricing is very attractive. Can you please post your pros and cons as an owner of a Rodeo? In addition, when is the 2005 available to the market (August)? A sales man told in somewhere in October to November. I don't believe him. Finally, ... Read More
I'm joking about you bragging - yes, you got a good deal. Does it have leather? I noticed that not many 2003s, if any, have leather. I currently have a 2002 Trooper and wouldn't mind adding another Isuzu to my stable. I might hold off a year to get a 4x4 Axiom real cheap. Nice engine, a little bit better crash rating than a Rodeo, and TOD to kill for... But ... Read More
Jayzmahal- My family has had great luck with isuzu products over the years. My 2002 rodeo LS 4x4 has so far given me 1.5yrs & 17Kmi w/ zero problems. It really depends on what your expectations are. If you want a tough, reliable, old-school truck based "SUV", that is comfortable & looks good, go for a rodeo or axiom. You will not find more truck for your dollar anywhere. Generally speaking, ... Oleg- You don't see a whole lot of information out there on the 1998-2003 rodeo 2.2L. This engine is actually a GM/Daewoo/Holden derivative. The same engine is in the Daewoo Leganza. Isuzu did put out a TSB that the timing belt on the 2.2L should be replaced every 60Kmi due to early failures. They are an interference engine. The only other issue I've heard of with this engine is a faulty ... Read More
The Ascender hadn't sold many units as of 5-7-2003, the day the depreciation list was posted. I guess my question for everyone here is: How could they predict the depreciation of a new '03 model that had sold so few units? Sorry about the grouchy ranting. I'm just not convinced that Isuzus are disasters on four wheels. Seems like Isuzu has a small but very loyal following. I'm really not looking ... Read More
How can Edmunds rate the Assender with a 5 year depreciation rate of ~69%? It's been out for how long? Oh yeah, I forgot, it's a Chevy in disguise, but the Isuzu badge automatically qualifies it for the Edmunds junk pile. At least they threw in the Tracker so poor Isuzu wouldn't hold all of the top spots. Top 10 SUVs With the Worst Residual Value Date Posted 05-07-2003 The percentage ... Read More
No doubt about it, MSRP's were really shocking up to 2003. Plus isuzu didnt really advertise the huge factory to dealer rebates for 2002 either (isnt that surprising!) You pretty much had to talk to a sales person to find out about that. Most people peeked at the sticker & bailed out! As far as the redesign of the rodeos goes, yes, The 1991-1997 rodeo kept the same look, with some ... Read More
It's unfortunate Edmunds got such a lemon for a tester. I've been following various isuzu boards/forums for several years now, and I've NEVER seen such issues with a 1998+ rodeo. I've seen ZERO reports of water pump/ cooling system issues & have not seen those electrical issues either. They are definitely not flawless trucks- but they are far better than the test unit Edmunds had. American Isuzu has over priced their ... Read More
Willie340, in regards to your post about the dealership with no new rodeo's/isuzu's in stock - I see what you mean. There is a large isuzu dealership a few miles from my house that typically stocks around 100+ isuzu's at a time. They still have about 20+ 2002 rodeos, a few 2002 rodeo sports and only 3 or 4, 2003 rodeo's so far. Joel
Willie340, once again, you are not comparing apples to apples. A brand new FULLY loaded 4x4 rodeo (2003) is around $25K, New LOADED AWD Axioms or Ascenders go for around $30K. I'll back you on the fact that - yes, if I paid $34K+ for a vehicle, it BETTER darn well be quiet & smooth!! Yes honda makes a better engine than isuzu, but that is why you pay $34K+ for ...
