    My wife's 2001 Rodeo had a frame rot & trailing arm bracket mount failure in April 2009. I had repairs made after an Isuzu dealer told me the truck was out of warranty, but files a complaint with NHTSA the day of occurance. We recently received the recall info & have submitted a claim for reimbursement. Time will tell how it goes.

    I was told that the offer had a lot to do with how long you've owned your rodeo...they said they offered me more for my 2001 with 85,000 miles because I've owned it since 2001.

    Just put a claim in with NHTSA .com Tell them that your gas tank is effected and the frame is bad. Put a claim in to the NJ attroney General and put a claim in with the FTC.gov and also put a claim in with the Isuzu corp try these numbers 1800-255-6727 and 1-714-935-9300. Then its a waiting game.

    i have a 97 Honda passport witch has the same 3.2 motor in it. my truck does the same thing. i think that it could be the ignition control module. i have been told that you have to go to a dealer to get one.

    My guess is sludge. Also, our 2001 Rodeo had a 10 year, 100k mile powertrain warranty. The engine was replaced 2 years ago at 80k miles, but we were able to document it was properly maintained.

    not sure on the 4 cyl but on the v-6, it's on the rear of the driver side head under the intake. Hard to get to. It's on the head somewhere.

    I also owned a 2001 HOnda Passport, with one problem after the other my advice to you is to get rid of it and never buy another Isuzu product - Honda did not make the Passport the Passport is an Isuzu rodeo - a true Honda is a great vehicle and HOnda themselves will now tell you dont ever by a passport.

    If you have a v-6 engine,you will not damage your engine if the t-belt breaks.If you have a 4 cylinder,then you will damage the engine if the belt breaks.You should replace the timing belt,tensioner, and waterpump at one time with your mileage because they tend to fail at around 80k miles.The price seems reasonable if the waterpump is included.Check with an Isuzu dealer because they usually have a timing belt package ...     I have a 2001 Rodeo sport. I had what sounds like a similar problem. It would lerch while shifting or while stopping. I had to have mode switch replaced it's under the dash, it communicates between the indicator on the dash and the gear on the floor board. I'm not sure if yours is set up this way, but it is a lot cheaper than a new transmission.

    I have a 97 passport that had hard shifting problems when stopping and it would occasionally loose power in the lower gears. You might want to check the gear select switch on the side of the transmission, they tend to get dirty and send improper gear selection info to the computer.     You are way above the 1qt per 1k. Your dealer should install a new engine for free. Since you are the orginal owner you have a 120k/10yr warranty. Contact Corp Isuzu and tell them that your oil consumption test was completed at a dealer and they are unwilling to replace the engine.

    I think that you have to press the unlock button on your remote twice. Pressing it once just unlocks the driver's side only. Pressing the button a second time opens the remaining doors. This is how it is programmed on our 2001 Rodeo. Good Luck!

    Shocks, on my 2001 Rodeo LS 4x4, I put monroe sensatracts~ $125. Big difference. My engine uses about a half quart of oil per 5000 miles. At least until the head gasket blew at 62000. Then Isuzu replaced the entire engine (after 5 weeks of BS). Gas mileage is in the 19mph range at 70+ mph. I do use synthetic oil and fram filters. I think it makes a difference.
