    Incorrect display such as this could be the transmission mode switch. Many times when the switch needs cleaning or replacing, the display will be incorrect and many times you will experience hard shifting. My Trooper does this occasionally.     It's sad another Isuzu bit the dust but don't spend $4K on this truck, especially since it involves a terribly old engine to begin with... It will not last and your tranny will be next. It's time to move on. You'll get at least ten trouble-free, safer, and more economical years out of any new car out there right now.

    I have a 1998 - engine replaced at 75,000 miles - I would NEVER AGAIN spend that much money on an Isuzu. Parts will get harder to find since they are pulling out of the US.

    I have a 2001 rodeo same problems as everyone else. Talked to Isuzu today and they told me that they were aware of the problem as well, and gave me a Case Number. I Just Put 842.00 in my front end at the garage, just to find out that the problem was the frame at my Back drivers side tire is totally rusted into.

    girlfriend has a 2wd 3.2 with 30k mi. original serpantine belt is developing minor cracks. she was quoted $70 to have it replaced. her uncle ( a previous Isuzu exec.) said that there were too many adjustments for me to replace it and save $40. I replaced the tensioner and belt on my old CAT C12. looked at the Isuzu and looks like a 5min. job. whatdya think? thanks, Brian.

    Does anyone know how to fix the shift lock control on a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. I usually have to rock the car a bit to get the shift lock to release in order to put the car in gear (automatic). The other work around is to start the car in Neutral.

    Out of curiousity, how have you arrived at the conclusion that you need a new ABS module? Did you do a code check on the vehicle and if so, what was code(s)? Module is expensive and bleeding the system can be problematic if not done in proper sequence, would hate to see you get in over your head if module is not source of problem.

    Oleg- You don't see a whole lot of information out there on the 1998-2003 rodeo 2.2L. This engine is actually a GM/Daewoo/Holden derivative. The same engine is in the Daewoo Leganza.
