What is it?
Acura RS-X Concept

What's special about it?
This RS-X is more than just big tires and carbon fiber wings — although it does incorporate both items. The Acura concept is a design study with international touring car racing in mind. The track has been widened a full 5 inches for added cornering stability, and the 19-inch wheels are wrapped in prototype Michelin rain tires. Brembo brakes, an underbody spoiler, HID headlights and a dual center exhaust round out the impressive list of race-inspired equipment.

The interior boasts carbon fiber seats, an S2000 gauge cluster and a racing-style instrument panel.

Although no specific engine specs were released, Honda claims that the powerplant would be competitive in the German DTM touring car series, placing it somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 horsepower.

Why should you care?
Unless you're a big DTM fan, you really shouldn't, but the prospect of a production version of this wide-track RS-X is certainly a tantalizing thought. As always, concept cars are mostly just that, but at least Honda has shown that it is already actively pursuing bigger and better things for its newest superstar. —Ed Hellwig
