Chevrolet's 2006 TrailBlazer SS is an attempt to bring serious street performance to the SUV crowd.
A revised gauge cluster, sport seats and splashes of metallic trim spuce up the TrailBlazer otherwise drab cabin.
All necessary trim was removed to give the TrailBlazer a cleaner, more athletic look.

What is it?
Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS

What's special about it?
With 391hp and 395 pound feet of torque from its 6.0-liter LS2 V8, there's no doubt this TrailBlazer will be fast. Chevrolet is claiming a 0-to-60 time of just 5.7 seconds. All wheel drive is available, but there's a stripe painting two wheel drive version too. A heavy duty four speed automatic transmission is the only gearbox and a limited slip rear end is standard.

Chevrolet's engineers did extensive chassis tuning to the Trailblazer SS on Germany's Nurburgring test track, where they decided to lower the suspension 1-inch and add 25% stiffer springs. This SUV should hang on fine when dad does his Hans Stuck imitation on the way to Home Depot.

Larger brakes are part of the package as well, with nearly 13-inch rotors up front. ABS and electronic stability control are standard, but anyone with the absurd notion of taking an SUV onto a racetrack can order an optional brake cooling package up front.

The "SS look" is carried over into the cabin with a revised instrument cluster featuring a more prominent silver on black tachometer. The front bucket seats get added side bolstering and embroidered seatbacks while numerous bits of metallic trim are sprinkled throughout.
