What is it?
2001 BMW 7-Series

What's special about it?
Big, bad and beautiful. The 7-Series is BMW's top range of luxury-performance sedans. All 2001 models receive upgraded appearance items, including body-color matched rocker panels and lower bumpers. The front, side and rear turn-signal lenses are now clear in appearance.

The 2001 7-Series also comes with a standard digital cell phone integrated into the vehicle. This phone incorporates BMW's Mayday feature. Used in conjunction with the car's navigation system, Mayday allows emergency services to pinpoint the exact location of the car in case of an accident or emergency.

Other changes include the availability of run-flat tires as a no-cost option for all models and wider availability of the optional Sport Package (it will now be offered on the 740iL and 750iL in addition to the 740i). The Sport Package includes 18-inch wheels with performance tires, Shadowline black exterior trim, Vavona redwood interior trim and Electronic Damping Control (still a standard feature on the 750iL).

Why should you care?
A 2000 BMW 750iL won our most recent Super Luxury Sedan Comparison Test, beating out Audi, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus. The changes to the 2001 models are minor, but they should tide things over until a completely redesigned 7-Series arrives in a year or two.
