What Is It?

2006 Jaguar XK Victory

What's Special About It?

Jaguar has commissioned a special "Victory" edition of the popular XK sports car in celebration of its fourth Manufacturer's Championship in Trans-Am road racing. Unique Victory trim will be offered on the XK8 coupe and convertible, and on the more exclusive XKR coupe and convertible. The package includes limited-edition checkered flag badges and polished door sill plates, custom 20-inch BBS wheels and cross-drilled Brembo brakes. Four colors will be offered, including Black Copper Metallic, Satin Silver Metallic, Frost Blue Metallic and Bay Blue Metallic. XKR models will receive special carbon-fiber interior trim, while XK8 versions will get a new elm wood veneer. Finally, all models will have standard Bluetooth wireless connectivity. The Victory XK is projected to hit showrooms in June 2005.

What's Edmunds' Take?

Jaguar has a long, rich history in road racing, so it's nice to see the company doing so well in a highly competitive series. Its Rocket Motorsports XKR racecar packs a whopping 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission, as well as full-race suspension and an extra-wide body specially constructed to cover massive race tires. As exciting as all that race-only gear may be, none of it manages to filter down to the street-going Victory XKR. Special badges and polished door sills are all well and good, but they won't improve the performance of a vehicle that already costs upward of $80 grand. With a 390-horse supercharged V8 underhood, the XKR is certainly no slouch, but it's heavy and there's no manual transmission available. High-performance luxury fans will love the car's decadent leather interior and refined driving style, but true sports car aficionados looking for a track-ready weekend warrior will be left wanting. — Dan Kahn
