It may not have had the sheer number of new cars and trucks shown in Detroit, but this year's L.A. show still boasted several important product introductions that made headlines. GM had the biggest presence with a total of five new vehicles on display, but hot cars from Acura, Lotus and Panoz also grabbed their fair share of attention.

On the concept side, Hummer's unveiled its latest creation dubbed the H3T. Smaller than the H2 but fortified with equal amounts of attitude and off-road ability, the H3T could be a look at the next new member of the Hummer family. A new TL is already on the streets, but that didn't stop Acura from showing off a high-performance concept of its midsize sedan. With 22-inch wheels and a stark red interior, it showed a side of Acura that most consumers have probably never seen before.

When it came to actual production cars, the two biggest newsmakers just so happened to be the two smallest vehicles. Chevrolet pulled the wraps off its all-new Cobalt compact sedan and coupe after years of neglecting the entry-level segment and it looks to be a big improvement over the Cavalier it replaces. For more performance-oriented buyers, look no further than the Lotus Elise coupe.
