What Is It?
2004 BMW 330Ci Performance Package
What's Special About It?
Developed specifically for the North American market, the Performance
Package enhances the driving experience by offering mild engine tweaks and a
tighter suspension. Revised camshafts and a modified engine management setup
yield a 10-horsepower gain over the stock motor. A six-speed manual is already
standard on the car, but the Performance Package adds a short-throw shifter as
well as a shorter final drive ratio. The exhaust has also been tuned to let a
little more of the inline six's sound spill out. The sum total of all these
enhancements is a 0-to-60-mph time that is half a second quicker than the
standard-issue 330Ci according to BMW.
To complement the engine's added punch, the suspension was retuned for
even sharper handling. Eighteen-inch wheels and an aero body kit set the
Performance Package apart visually while the interior gets some minor
revisions as well. In addition to the sportier cloth and Alcantara interior,
the 330Ci Performance Package also offers black or silver aluminum trim and
illuminated red instrument needles.
What's Edmunds' Take?
If you don't want to pop for the M3 but want more than the standard
330Ci offers, the Performance Package was made for you. — Brian Moody
