LONDON, England — Land Rover will kick off 2009 at the British auto show with upgraded versions of the Range Rover, along with a promising fuel-efficient concept for the future.
The luxurious Range Rover Autobiography heads the 2009 lineup with its plethora of leather goodies and 20-inch diamond-turned seven-spoke alloy wheels. Additional acoustic cabin glass keeps the ride quiet, while new paint colors give consumers even more options to help create their preferred exterior look. New seat styles, more wheel options and all-new colors will also be offered on all of the 2009 Range Rover models.
Land Rover's acclaimed LRX concept makes its U.K. debut in London, showing that the brand can hang with the demand for better fuel-efficiency. Unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January, the compact three-door LRX was conceived as a diesel hybrid and has potential to get up to 60 mpg while significantly lowering CO2 emissions.
The Land Rover display at the British auto show features an "Our Planet" zone meant to showcase Land Rover's environmental awareness including its new diesel hybrid technologies and a CO2 offset plan that counteracts the emissions released for the first 45,000 miles on all Rovers sold in the U.K.
Land Rover traditionalists will enjoy the Ultimate Experience at the show: A specialist instructor navigates a Land Rover up a 10-meter mountain or across a steep side slope while you ride along.
What this means to you: Land Rover is marrying its traditional high luxury and adventuresome philosophy with eco-friendliness. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
