BEIJING — Brilliance Auto, the Chinese partner of BMW, has launched its first station wagon as part of its midrange Junjie series. Designed by Pininfarina, the car goes on sale later this year in China and will be marketed in Europe as part of the Brilliance BS4 line.

The Junjie SW looks very much like a premium European wagon. Indeed, it appears to be a close cousin to the 3 Series Touring.

It will share the 1.8- and 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engines with the Junjie sedan, which was also styled by Pininfarina.

What this means to you: If the Junjie came with four-wheel drive, it could make a formidable entry in the premium wagon segment in North America. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
