Hi! My name is Joseph. My family has owned our 1999 QX4 since late 2000. It was recently passed down to me and ofcourse I have always wanted it. The one thing I have to say about my infiniti is that it is one of the best cars you will ever purchase. My QX4 has 248,000 miles and still, for the most part, runs smooth. Ofcourse With the time, there have ... Read More

  • Just bought a 1999 QX4

I just bought a 1999 QX4 for around $8,000 from a private seller (Someone please tell me that is a good price!) It has around 72,000 miles on it and is running fine. The seller didn't have any documented service history for it. Could someone recommend what I should have it checked for and what maintenance I should have done to it? Should I go to a Nissan/Infiniti dealer for a ... Read More

  • More Dash Rattling.....

    Written by: tracey15 on Oct 26, 2002 4:24:20 PM

I purchased an 1999 Infiniti QX4 six months ago and have been very pleased. HOWEVER, I seem to have the same mysterious rattling in the front passenger-side dash (reference conversation between JIAMIN and PATHFINDER13). Unfortunately it is not from anything being loose on the dash (ie vent- so sponge will not work...) or anything in the glove box. I have taken it into Infinity and they said they removed "something" and ... Read More

  • QX4 with 240 hp

    Written by: bigorange30 on Apr 19, 2002 10:01:53 AM

I understood that Nissan/Infiniti came out with the 240 hp engine in these SUV's in mid 1999 calling it a 2000 model. Why does your 2000 not have 240 hp?

used drum brakes for many years, then advanced to front disc/rear drum, also for years, but it just seems that vehicles with substantial cost and (theoretically) substantial quality have 4 wheel disc brakes...only Taurus/Sable had 4 wheel disc with the silly oval design of 1995-1999, and then with the redesign of 2000, took a step backwards and installed rear drum brakes...I don't deny that the vehicle (QX4) will stop, as does ... • Faulty Tire and Warranty

Written by: ppnff on Jun 10, 2001 4:21:58 PM

We bought our 2000 QX4 in December 1999. Our QX4 has 9800 miles on it (we do not drive it a lot) and the rear driver side tire is having difficulty retaining tire pressure. The mechanic who helped me replace the faulty tire with the spare told me that it looks like a belt problem since he could not find any holes. The tires are the original Bridgestone Duelers. Can anyone ... Read More

I agree with you on the quite ride of the QX4. I actually did a very extensive amount of research on these 2 vehicles before buying the 2001 PF LE auto4wd...I love them both! I think path01 nailed the other significant differences except for the fact the QX4 has a more uptown interior trim level. The QX4 was more quiet (on back to back testing), but I didn't find the difference ... Read More

I'm now the proud owner of a White, 1999 QX4. I am thrilled. It has 20,445 miles on it and it is immaculate!!! It is loaded, heated seats, 6 disc changer, the works. I got it for $25,900. If anyone is looking for an Infiniti in the Alabama area, try Crown Automobile, the service was excellent. I am happy to be able to post. I too, am at one with the ... Read More

  • Question regarding 'fuel octane'...

    Written by: mtan0302 on Jan 9, 2001 11:25:58 PM

I have just purchased a 1999 'used' QX4, and I was wondering whether I could use 'unleaded' 87 octane, instead of 'premium' 92 octane? I spoke to an Infinity dealer and he said that 92 octane was recommended for the QX4. Later, however, I spoke to an independent auto mechanic, and he said that 87 octane could also be used. The reason why I am asking this question, is because a ... Read More
