Infiniti M35/M45 Extended Warranty Questions

  • Re: Infiniti Elite Extended Warranty vs. CPO Warranty [valentin650]

    Written by: billgould1 on Sep 15, 2009 12:24:06 PM

I purchased an 2004 M45 used 18 months ago just after the original warranty ran out and purchased an extended warranty through my credit union. The price was much less than I expected and sure enough a couple of months later the air bag light went off and I paid $0.00 for a $400 repair.

Get whatever additional coverage that you can. These engines burn more oil than they should. I have a 2004 m45 with 61,000. I should mention that I'm the original owner and bought the car with 11 miles on it. I have regularly changed my oil at 3,000-3,500 miles with a synthetic blend and am getting a new engine put in as I type. Most recently, it burned (not leaked) 3 qts ... Read More

  • Extended Warranties for Pre-Owned Infiniti M45

    Written by: billgould1 on Apr 28, 2008 7:22:50 AM

I recently purchased a 2004 Infiniti M45 with only 11,500 miles on the odometer. The 4 year/48,000 mile warranty is expired and I'm soliciting opinions about buying an extended warranty as well as any recommendations as to who to purchase from.

About a month ago, I began researching and test-driving cars in the category being discussed on this forum. Decided to sign up and share my experience. So, here goes… Sidebar … CR and JD Powers didn’t seem like much help, since they show that (to take the recently release JD Powers Dependability study as an example) 2004 Lexus owners typically had one or two problems; 2004 Cadillac, BMW, Infiniti, Jaguar, and ... I agree that coverage of BMW in the auto mags is often silly. The often-quoted Car and Driver (May, 2005) "sports-luxury" comparison awarded the Infiniti M45 first place, but almost entirely on the basis of rapid acceleration, rather than styling or an anti-iDrive bias. The M45 was put up against the BMW 530i (which meant putting a 335 horse-power Infiniti M model in a drag-strip race against the 225 hp version ... Read More

CR report influenced me as well, but it wasn't only the prediction of greater reliability. In fact, when I read CR a second time, I saw (p. 14) that the survey was conducted in the spring of 2005. CR expects 2005 models to come out in the fall of 2004 and then CR will predict what we should expect from 2006 models (expected to arrive fall 2005) and not, therefore, survey-able ... Read More

Mark … great rant. My problem, not having owned a luxury car before my 2004 BMW 325i, is that I only have test-drive personal experience to share here. I loved driving the Audi A6 V6 S-Line better than any other car I tested and the open, clean interior appeals to my aesthetic a bit more than the hugging-luxuriousness of the M35. I want to want the Audi, and with the V8 ... Read More

Was it you that described how you felt about the rear end of the M45. The first time I saw this car was in Automobile magazine July 2004, an article about the new 2005 RL, the 2005 Cadillac STS, and the 2006 Infiniti M45. From that point on in those great pictures I thought the Infiniti design was way ugly. You always like to give a new design time to acclimate ... Read More

    Written by: tomc1227 on Sep 6, 2005 10:22:51 PM

I've read that many of the Japanese automakers are revising their HP numbers down as a result of new SAE HP testing standards that companies have begun to adopt. I read a press release from Infiniti that mentioned all 06 Infiniti HP numbers are based on the SAE 1995 standard, except for the 06 FX45 which is based on the SAE 2004 standard... and the 06 FX45 is rated at 320 ... Thanks for letting me know about the M45. For me, the best person there to deal with has been Ken, their Internet Sales guy. His office might be in the Dodge building. Don't know if they are competitive with Nashville, Bhm & Chattanooga. Not unusual, but they've had some recent staffing turnover there. I did think it was wierd that they had so many leftover 2004 G35 sedans, and even a ... Read More

TJPYLES, Congrats on your new M45. Can't wait to get one of my own. I'll probably opt for the M35 with Tech Package. My wife and I are big Infiniti fans. We currently own a 2004 FX35 and a 2003 G35. Hopefully, she will be ok with me trading in the G sometime next year.

Last week, I spoke with the Infiniti sales person. He told me that he could offer me $8,000.00 off from MSRP now, and it will be $10,000.00 off with 1.9% APR in few months. I will purchase 2004 model end of October. Please give us update if anyone finds good deals on 2004 model.

As it stands, the marketing data being collected by Infiniti on the US site clocks in around $50K for the AWD6 and $57K for the RWD8 - that is, both with all the bells and whistles that Marketing will use differentiate the models in the '05 market. If Acura doesn't follow suit (and jack up the RL prices over 2004), that's a $10K difference, on average. That's a lot of lost ... Read More
