Just to eliminate brake squeak, I suggest to replace stock brake pads with Ceramic brake pads. The pads come with the car is Semi metallic ones. Their dust really make squeaking noise. Dealers do not carry ceramic pads. You can have them at brake shops like Sears. 2001 I30 Electrical Problem
My 2001 I30 has had 4 remanufactured alternators supplied by Nissan/Infiniti installed since May and a new starter. After leaving the car sit for 3-4 days it won't start w/o a jump. What else could possibly be wrong here?

Infiniti I30 jumpstart and then motor dies
2001 Infinit I30. Events - Drove to gas station and got gas. Tried to restart car and got nothing but clicking sound. Tried jump starting and after 20 minutes of trying it started right off. 2001 I30 replacement rear brakes
replaced brakes with new infiniti pads at 70,000. Front pads were the same but rear were changed due to my Vin#. some spacer clips were attached toward rear of old brakes but the new pads seemed a little longer to make up for the difference. Alternator
Has anybody changed an alternator on an 2001 infiniti i30? The mechanic wants to charge me $400 to put in a remanufactured one and I would rather buy one for $120 and do it myself ifnI am not going to take 8 hours to do it. If you have any tips I would appreciate it.

I just replaced rear break pads for a 1999 Infiniti I30. Pep Boys had what I needed in stock. I'm not sure if the part # is the same for a 2001 I30 but the # was PR540-C ceramic pads. Go to Pep boys.com for a complete listing of parts.

I bought it certified used from authorized dealer and although I am outside the original 60K warranty; the cert used warranty added 12 months and 12K miles to the original warranty. akhan, My 2001 I30 and several other Nissan/Infiniti vehicles I have been in appear to have a similar problem. In my case it was the interior air blower motor making the noise. There is a TSB out for it and Infiniti's solution is to put an additional cover over the motor. Reduces the noise significantly but does not completely eliminate it. I would think a Nissan dealer would be capable of servicing an Infiniti I30. The 2001 I30 has the same engine as the Maxima SE and Nissan dealers would likely have access to Infiniti technical data, including TSBs. I understand Infiniti of Lisle (Chicago) are paying $18,250 which means you could probably buy one for around $19-$20K depending how good you negotiate. Need advice re. floormats
Can anybody recommend someplace where I can get sharp-looking floormats (rubber mats and plush mats) for a 2001 I30? I'd prefer mats that have the Infiniti logo on them, if mats like that even exist. Saw a 2001 Infiniti I30t at the Mall last week
Thought I would tell all you Infiniti I30 owners, I30t owners especially, that you have some really nice looking cars. The design of the I30 and I35 are very clean and don't need spoilers to add to their appeal(although the spoiler does look nice on them.) The I30t was dark blue with beige interior, NICE!!!!! I think Infiniti did a great job with the I30. I envy you people.

Mud guards 2001
Yes mud guards are listed as an option on the sticker for a 2001 I30. However in the northeast every single 2001 I30 ordered with Heated Seats and traction control comes with the 6-disc CD and mud guards. It does not matter if the dealer wanted them or not. Trust me Infiniti will not let us order a heat and trac I30 without throwing in mudguards and a CD.

I had a similar experience with Ford Motorcraft batteries. Just make it past the warranty. The maintenance free batteries either last forever or die young. I think Nissan should have had the courtesy to replace at least one battery. One of the reasons I bought an I30 was lack of customer service from Ford. Reguarding wind noise and reliability
Having sold many 2000/2001 I30's since their introduction in 1999 I have yet to have a single customer complain about wind noise. Reliability wise not only is the I30 just as good but with a timing chain instead of a timing belt it may even be more reliable than the toyota V6. There is currently a $1,000 owner loyalty bonus for former current Infiniti owners/lessors who are buying an I30/QX4/Q45.

To pathy57: Look closely at the 2001 I30 before you leap. Like I said earlier, the manufacturer is aware of the wind noise problem, but doesn't know how to resolve it at this point. There may have to recall some cars. Make sure you listen closely when you test drive one. Don't have the radio or A/C on during the drive. Check out the security system as well. When you click out of your seat belt and it goes flying back into its little side holder, it often slams into the side moldings and scuffs it up. Just hit 1000 miles on my 2001 I30. I really like this car but would absolutely love it if it was as quiet at 80mph as my 92 Diamante that I turned in. Would changing from Goodyear to Michelin tires reduce road noise? Company's can sign up for Nissan/Infiniti Vehicle Purchase Program to offer an employee benefit.
