  • i30 starting problems---have to turn key 3 to 5 times?

    Written by: wa1 on May 30, 2010 11:51:23 AM

Hi - I recently purchased a 1998 Infiniti i30 with 114,000 miles. The car runs great but in the week I have had it the starting problem has gotten worse. It does not seem to be the battery or alternator because there is no "noise" during the starting attempts. You have to try to start it 5-6 times sometime. The lights on the dash seem to light, but nothing happens. The ... Read More

  • Help! I30 speaker grill dilema

Written by: soonerinfiniti on May 2, 2003 3:07:24 PM

I just purchased a 1998 I30 with 75,000 miles. For some reason, the small tweeter speaker grills were missing from both sides in the front doors. At first, Infiniti said they could order the speaker grills. Now, they say I have to buy the entire door panel - at $400 each! Ouch! I have seen Maxima's with the same speakers. There must be someplace to buy these flush mounted speaker grills. ... Read More

  • Extended Warranty

Written by: igorh on Jul 15, 2002 5:02:27 PM

Just spoke with the local dealer, Fields Infinity in Chicago Suburbs. For my I30 1998 he offers the following extended warranties: 3 yr/ 45K miles from the date of warranty purchase at $1755. This is from the third party that they sell. It supposedly covers bumper-to-bumper with roadside assistance. Infinity's warranties: 4 yr/48K miles extending existing warranty at $1927; and 3 yr/ 48K at $1691. He claims that all these are ... Read More

Congrats on getting the low mileage '98 I30t for $17650. Based on personal experience with the following 6 Nissans/Infinitis since 1991, I would recommend you not spend the $1000-$1100 for an extended warranty. My total non-routine maintenance out-of-warranty expenses: 1991 Maxima GXE (65K): 0 1993 Infiniti G20 (70K): $400 fuel injector 1996 Maxima GLE (70K): 0 2000 Infiniti I30 (31K): 0 2000 Infiniti G20 (8K): 0 (wife's current car) 2002 Infiniti ... thanks bdruland for your adv. I did check out the 2000 and 2001's coming off lease. I am in the east coast- central VA. Not many dealers around. THe price for the 2000 and 2001 is in the range of 22- 24 k with around 21k miles (average) on them. WHich is out of my present budget. However,I found an used I30 t with 26 k miles with the local infiniti ... Read More

See if you can find 2000 I30 program cars coming off lease. I understand Infiniti of Lisle (Chicago) are paying $18,250 which means you could probably buy one for around $19-$20K depending how good you negotiate. Don't know where you are located, but would guess Infiniti dealers in your area may have similar deals. Big difference in 2000/2001 I30's as opposed to 1996-1999. I think you would be much better off ... Read More

Take the $16K. I only got $16,200 last month when we traded our 98L w/ 32k miles on it. Also, remember that the trade in value is usually subtracted from the selling price when it comes to figuring out the tax. Here in Conn. the sales tax is 6%, so my trade was worth another $972 in tax money to me. The highest trade in value I was offered was 16.4k ... Read More

  • I30 or TL

I would recommend I30. The 96-99 TL have very bland and unexciting styling to me. The I30 has a nice look to it with the front grille, the profile will be the same as a Maxima and the rear I think looks better with a spoiler. While both are reliable cars, I think the I30 is one of Consumer Reports top used cars. The I30 has a more luxurious appearance with ... Read More

I am searching for a 1998 Infiniti I30t with a 5 speed manual transmission. I realize that in America you are not supposed to try and combine luxury and sport in a 4 door manual transmission but to hell with the rules (unless you are a premium ($$$)european manufacturer). Why can't I have a family car that is a hoot to drive? My choices are limited to VW Passat and Maxima ... Read More

Good morning pethelman and Roy, My I30 is 1998 with 26000 miles on it. Just to update you on the idle adjustments. The three times it was adjusted I did feel the difference in the way my car was idling. After my first visit when I left the dealer I did not even feel that the car was running that how smooth it was, but few days later it started to ... Read More

  • Tires for Infiniti I30

    Written by: oren1 on Sep 28, 2000 6:11:14 PM

I own 1992 Nissan Maxima and 1998 I30 both cars have Toyo tires. I think it's one of the best tires on the market. I put 80000 miles city/hyway on my nissan before replacing it. When I was looking for new Toyo tires for my nissan I was told by numerous tire dealers that Toyo tires are the most lasting tires on the market. This tires perform well on wet/dry/icy/snowy roads. ... Read More
