  I just had a speed sensor replaced in my 1997 Infinity I30t. The speedometer always worked fine. Since the sensor replacement ( 3 days ago ), the speedometer will randomly work and then drop to zero. To coincidental. Does anyone have a clue as to what's happening to the speedometer. Almost sounds like a slipping cable as a result of the sensor work ???

  I have an 1997 infinity I30 and periotically my speedometer stops or freezes for a period of time (sometimes from 10 to up to 40 minutes) and then just starts back up again. During this period the tach work fine and the car is running fine. Any thoughts on what could be going on?

  I have a 1997 Infinity I30 (145,000 miles) where the speedometer stops and restarts randomly. Any thoughts on what my be causing the issue? So far the speedometer restarts after anywhere from a few minutes to 20-30 minutes. The tack still works -- the speed and odometer stops and restarts. Stopping and restarting the engine doesn't automatically fix the issue.

  Have this vehicle with 148K miles. Saturday, idling at a traffic light and when it turns green, hit the gas pedal, but go nowhere. When shifting the car into various gears, hear a sound best described as "whirring/crunching". Until this occurred, I have had no issues with the transmission and done regular maintenance.   Many cars with steering wheel mounted controls have mounted in the steering column, what the mechanics refer to as a 'clockspring'. It gets dirty connections or is possibly broken. Common to be broken during front axle repairs when steering wheel is turned too far. Websites show details on how to replace it.

  For the last couple days my 1997 Infiniti I30 has been starting weird, turning slow. Today it would not start at all. I cleaned the battery cables, no result. There is not even a clicking noise when the key is engaged. Lights do not even dim when the key is turned. Nothing at all happens.

  The cruise control on my 1997 Infiniti I30 is starting to act up. Quite often, I cannot activate the control on the steering wheel. When I press the CC button nothing happens. However, I will press the button a short while later the cruise control will activate. After a few miles the cruise will deactivate itself. I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter?

  Fred, I must concur, that the Nissan/Infiniti are very dependable cars. The price break over a Toyota is nice, especially if one buys the car used. I have had a 1983 Nissan, two 1985 Nissans, and I currently have one 1992 Nissan and a 1997 I30. They are good cars!!

  Anybody know for sure whether the 1997 Infiniti I30's have ELECTRONIC motor mounts or just silicon filled ones? I understand that the current 2000/2001 I30s have electronic motor mounts. Do the 1997s have them or no? Thanks...

  Basically there are 2 different types of blue lights, that i know of anyway. There are the cool blue headlights, that you can get at any auto store..(advanced auto, autozone...etc.) those are around $20.00 for a set, the reason why they are cheaper is because you can't really tell they are blue, you can just barely see a very very slight tint of blue.   Hi! Everybody. I am a newcomer in the Town Hall. I think this a great place to get information on cars. I am interested to buy a 1997 I30 with 38800 miles. The dealer make me an offer for $16k. He also agreed to install new tires on the car. My question is what are the best tires for I30? I will appreciate your feedback Thanks
