Iinfiniti makes a serious effort to compete with BMW's 3 Series with the G35 and the effort is largely successful when it comes to outright performance. The large V6 makes ample power and torque and puts it down effectively through either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic. Handling responses is sharper than its German rivals and its brakes are equally effective.
Ride quality is more harsh than BMW but not overly so. Wind and tire noise are kept to a minimum but the 3.5-liter V6 isn't as smooth as many competitors' engines at high rpm. Offers relatively easy rear-seat ingress/egress and space is adequate for average-size adults. Driving position is highly adjustable.
Inifinti manages to combine reasonable functionality into its smallest model. Interior storage is adequate with reasonably sized door pockets, center console and ample cupholders. Rear seats do not fold to increase storage in the only average-size trunk. Tilt-telescope steering wheel and retained accessory power are standard.
Striking lines are a brilliant example of how to do it right when restyling an already successful design. Interior has subtle but effective details (analog clock, instrument illumination), which give the interior a quality feel. Panel fitment and gaps are excelllent. There are no squeaks or rattles.
High Performer
Able to match BMW's 335i in most performance tests, the G35 is a seriously high-performance machine.
Daily Commuter
The G35 will easily handle commuting duties despite being both sporting and luxurious.
Luxurious
Base models come heavily equipped with standard features. Opt for the "Journey" trim level and luxury features are even more impressive.
