Summary

What Edmunds.com says

Fast, stylish and relatively affordable, the rear-drive G35 sedan and the coupe offer high levels of performance and luxury.

Pros

Powerful V6, balanced and capable handling, roomy cabin, reasonable price.

Cons

Average interior materials quality, touchy brakes.

What's New for 2005

The sedan receives exterior styling revisions with a new hood, grille, bumpers, side sills, taillights and wheels. Sedans now make as much power as the coupes -- 280 hp (up from 260) and 270 lb-ft of torque (also up from 260) on models with an automatic transmission. Coupes and sedans equipped with a manual transmission get even more power (298 hp) but sacrifice 10 lb-ft of torque. Sedans with the sport suspension package also pick up 18-inch wheels and drilled aluminum pedals. All G35s get a redesigned instrument panel and console area with aluminum or wood trim, and the manual transmission has been improved to provide a lower shifting effort. A Sport version of the coupe debuts this year and includes an even firmer suspension, a limited-slip differential, 19-inch forged alloy wheels and drilled aluminum pedals. Oddly, though, Brembo brakes are no longer available on manual-shift coupes.

Review

I have owned a Porsche 944S for 22 years. As the maintenance bills began to climb it was time to buy a new vehicle. After reading many reviews the G35 6MT seemed to be my next car. This was sealed after I test drove the vehicle. The power delivery is absolutely flat in terms of torque curve and the handling is on par with my beloved Porsche. The steering is just a tad too power assisted, but beyond that, this car is just as much fun to drive. The convenience features are well thought out and executed. The service at the dealership continues my pleasant Infiniti experience. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a sporty driving experience.

Favorite Features

Power, linear torque curve, brakes and overall handling. The styling of the vehicle is timeless.

Suggested Improvements

Fuel mileage is on par with a vehicle in this performance category, but the use of premium is what increases owner cost of operation.

2005 Infiniti G35 x AWD 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

The bullet nose hints at the performance of this relatively cost effective AWD sports sedan. Forward midship engine placement results in a nearly perfect 50/50 weight distribution. 100% RWD with blessed over steer until slip is detected, then up to 50/50 AWD keeps the car on track even in snow and heavy downpours. The efficient FM 3.5 V6 engine has been a dream for the price point - why spend $15K+ more for a Euro badge and more maintenance costs? BMW = Burning More Wealth; Audi= An Ultra Dollar Incinerator; Get a better AWD performance investment with Infiniti

Favorite Features

280 HP engine w/ decent MPG, Atessa AWD system, "tiptronic - type" transmission, decent brakes, body styling, Bose sound, supportive heated seats.

Suggested Improvements

A bigger engine, back seat and trunk - oh wait - get a M35 X!

Review

I just bought this car yesterday and I LOVE IT! I have been looking at Infiniti's for over 2 years and am glad I stayed with them. This car has power beyond dreams, comfort and style along with elegance and class. I only wish tinted windows were part of the package but I will be taking it in on Monday! I have driven a Durango for the last 6 years so the mileage isn't a huge issue and the power makes it well worth it!

Favorite Features

Bose stereo system and memory seats that surround and "hug" you when you get in!

2005 Infiniti G35 Rwd 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 6M)

Review

I purchased this G35 4 DR 6M sedan privately in 2006. I had been watching the reviews through the magazines and was really impressed with the style, quality and performance for the money. When I drove the car in a road test, I was sold. It had 24,000 km. I have now driven it for over 3 years and still love every time I sit in the seat. It now shows 82,000 km on the clock and I have not had any significant issues to deal with. Sure the mileage isn't great, but it didn't buy it for its economy; but more for its performance and agility. Turn off the VDC (vehicle dynamic control) and you can turn this docile elite sedan into an adrenaline rush of acceleration. I love it as do passengers.

Favorite Features

298 HP bolted to a 6 speed short gate shifter, rear wheel drive, 18" wheels. Soft leather interior, heated front electric adjusted seats, rear reclining seats, p/w, p/sunroof,sport suspension hugs the road like a cheetah. Great Bose sound. HID lights plus fog.

Suggested Improvements

I would like to have the AWD version because I drive this all the time and we have snow for a month or so in the winter.

Love driving this car, except for the front tire wear. I am on my second set of front tires in 1 yr. Both sets of tires have had uneven wear on the inside treads, about every other 1" of tire there is a flat and peak area.

Handling, muscular body, 19" wheels, exhaust growl
