Summary
What Edmunds.com says
A stylish melding of form and function, the FX35 offers carlike handling and all-weather capability in a package that will never be mistaken for your average Explorer.
Pros
Standout styling, handles like a sport sedan, roomy interior for four, long list of standard features, strong V6.
Cons
Minimal cargo room, large blind spots, tricky at-the-limit handling, doesn't feel as upscale as some peers, no third-row seat available.
What's New for 2005
New options for 2005 include a lane departure warning system, Intelligent Cruise Control and a new Intelligent Key. Roof-mounted side-curtain airbags with rollover protection are now standard.

Just Not Good Enough

I have similar problem to another post. My dashboard is blistering like a boy scout with poison ivy. I complained within the warranty period but service would not act on it. I should have sued. He said "No, never seen or heard of such a problem. You can bring it in when the factory rep is here, but he's not likely to do anything." I like the car in many ways, but when you get down to it, for the price, they just can't compete against Lexus because of the quality of service Lexus provides. My wife had a Lexus 11+ years and her interior looked great. When we had a problem with the A/C "out of warranty" they still replaced it because they said there were factory defects. THAT'S SERVICE.
Favorite Features
Look and style. Handles very well.
Suggested Improvements
Better build quality for the interior. Better response and relationship from service department. Cure horrible blind spots or include back-up camera as a standard.

Exceptionally well built vehicle amazing performance and durability - no warranty claims at 85K miles!!! Performance and handling are outstanding for a vehicle of this size - a sports car in hiking boots!
Favorite Features
Dash layout, sound system, brake assist cruise control.
Suggested Improvements
Lower height of seat side bolsters, add turn signal lights to review mirrors...modify interior lighting to reduce glare.
DO NOT buy this car - bubbling dash board

Review
I have a 2005 FX35 that I paid 43k and I would not recommend any of the FX35. Infinity dealer replaced my bubbling dash board July 2008 when my car had only 28,000 miles. Now 14 months later at 40k miles the same problem. Out of warranty by 2 months and Infiniti dealer is not willing to help me unless I pay $1500 to have the dash board replaced with no guaranty that this will not happen again. The problem is the glue that was used in the dashboard is causing the problem. You pay good money for a car and it is a big problem. It will lower the value of my car. I do not recommend this car to anyone.

Excellent build quality. Had it for 5 years now and never had a mechanical problem. The only problem was the CD player, but the dealer replaced it with a brand new one without me paying for anything. This car handles very well, easy to drive, not as comfortable as some other SUVs though. Guess it's the sports tuned suspension I have.
Favorite Features
You'll fall in love with this car after your first test drive. Excellent build quality. Just as good as Lexus and Acura, if not better. But more stylish, especially for young people.
Suggested Improvements
Could make the suspension a little more comfortable. And yeah, the rear passenger doors have to be wide open to get in.

Having been a 240Z enthusiast years ago, the FX reminds me of that driving experience. The cam comes on strong at 3000rpm; third gear is the true workhorse. This is a vehicle one can drive like a church lady on Sunday, or really let it go. I've left several friends breathless when jumping on the throttle. They didn't expect such performance... especially those with the Lexus RX series vehicles. Everything about the vehicle is great. Styling, handling, build quality, comfort, intelligent cruise control, too many other things to identify. I've had SUV's, BMW's, probably more than 30 different vehicles. Hands down, the Z car and the FX have been my two favorite vehicles!
Favorite Features
Styling... one either loves or hates it. I thoroughly love it! Handles exceptionally well. Plenty of power. Too many luxury features to name. In contrast to similar American vehicles, if there is one even remotely similar, the FX blows the competition away! Will definitely buy another one someday.
Suggested Improvements
I note most of the things I would indicate have been addressed in newer models. Obviously Infiniti reads customer reviews, and refines accordingly. My only suggested improvement. Please... someone send me some money so I can buy a second one. My girlfriend really wants this one!
