Hyundai Tucson Transmission Problems

  • Re: Help [jme42]

Hello All. My 2005 Tucson was my 2nd Hyundai, after a 2004 Elantra GT. I still have both cars. At 17,000 miles, my Tucson shuddered while going up a hill, I took it into the dealership and they repaired it. At 60,000 miles, while on a trip in Mexico it started jumping from Overdrive into 3rd, or 2nd gear. If I turned the car off and on again, it would be ... Read More

We have a Hyundai Tucson 2009 and our transmission went at about 8000 miles. We now have 35000 and we are hearing increasingly loud whining noises from what could be the trans. WHo else hears this?

I have had the car for 14 months now and love, love, love it with the exception of the bluetooth. Mine is a bit better now that I've increased the volume. You have to use the volume lever on the left side of the steering wheel to do this as the dial won't work for the bluetooth. My niece has a 2009 Sonata with an aftermarket bluetooth added by the dealership. ... Read More

10K difference? Wow,things are sure different down under.A loaded 2010 GLS MSRP is around $22,000 here which is about the same as the 2009 model. I drove one and then I drove the KIA Sorento.I liked the Sorento much better, except for the gas mileage.29 hwy compared to 31 on the Tucson.

Hi Folks.. G'day from Aussie !! 2010 Tucson dosn't hit the road here until about 2nd qtr (Apr -June). Australian Price point for the entry level is looking at 30-35K Aussie Dollars. We can currently get the 2009 model for $22K for the City SX 5 Speed Manual (think this is the GLS elsewhere). I've just ordered the 09 model. There has been one at my dealer for at least two weeks. It's the loaded one ,with a GPS and leather.MSRP around 28K.Much improved over the old model.Looks pretty cool, and with the 6 speed EPA is 32 MPG highway.I'm waiting for the GLS model, which is a little under 21K before I can consider it,but then it will have my undivided attention.

Thanks for your post. Was the 2010 Tucson quiet at speed? My wife and I test drove a 2009 Tucson and 2009 Santa Fe and found the Santa Fe was much quieter on the Interstate. We bought neither and decided to wait. The 2010 Tucson is not yet available in our area as of 12/29/09. We both love manual transmissions and give thanks to Hyundai for being one of the few ... Here is a link to the official info on the new Tucson. Enjoy! ;) Near the end is the info you are looking for... Mass production of the Tucson started at the Ulsan factory for the United States market in October 2009 with sales starting in December 2009. http://hyundainews.com/Auto_Show_News/Los_Angeles_Auto_Show/2009_LA_Auto_Show_-_- - Tucson/Press_Release.asp

I also am choosing between a CRV and the 2010 Hyundai Tucson. I also agree that the new Tucson looks very sharp. Anyone have any thoughts on what to expect on its performance and safety? I hear some mixed reviews on the 2009 model, don't know if it can compare to the CRV. Obviously the price will be probably lower.

There maybe two 4cyl engines offered for the 2010 Tucson. A normally aspirated 2.0 and a turbo 2.0. Plus a 5spd auto box which should improve fuel economy over the current model.

I don't know about in Korea, but for the US market, the Tuscon replacement is coming soon. And just looking back in my last post here, my wish came true!! Hyundai is going to delete the 2.7L V6 on both the Tuscon and the Santa Fe (US market), with fuel efficiently 4 cyclinders, which I believe would be Thetas.

IIRC, at the New York Auto Show, one of Hyundai's US Execs confirmed a new round of 24/7 2.0 (2nd 7 new and refreshed cars in 24 months), and I believe a new Tucson should be in the cards of play. I would like to see the next gen Tucson NA version switch to the fuel efficient 2.4L I4 Theta engine used in the Sonata (NA). At the same time, cancel ... Read More

I got what I think was the best deal picking up a 2007 Limited still on the lot at my local dealer (Dutch Miller in Huntington, WV). It was a higher level vehicle than what I was originally looking for, but with the 2009 models starting to hit the lot, I thought I'd take a chance, and really shoot low. $23,845 - MSRP $1,300 - Premium Package (sunroof, upgraded stereo) $150.00 ... I did a report 55K miles of my Tucson V6 (see Tucson forum). I don't think Hyundai will do serious changes to the Tucson until 2012. Hyundai should realize that what people want is a compact SUV with offroad capability (not just crossover) and 5-seats. The only shortcoming of the present Tucson is its limited off road feature. The VW Tiguan is the answer for this sector of costumers wishes and ... Read More

I am guessing it will use same structure as the Kia Rondo....I am hoping the interior will be like the Elantra. I4 should be the 2.4L with 165hp and V6 should be rated at 190Hp and 5 speed AT transmission on both engines

I cannot speak for the elantra, never driven one or ridden in one, but as far as the tucson goes, I am getting 20 mpg in city and 25-26 mpg on hwy. I know that elantra gives you more mpg, and if gas mileage is your top priority, I would go to the elantra. For myself I would rather spend 20-30 dollars more a month on gas on the tucson. The ...
