2006 Hyundai Tucson GLS 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Bought the GLS 6 cyl new from dealer. Very reliable for the first three years I owned it. Good driver's visibility. Not exciting to drive, and not very fuel efficient (for 3500 lbs). Puny V6 engine. Useless rear trunk cover. Tire pressure light too sensitive. Ride was a little smoother carrying a full load vs. traveling light.
Favorite Features
Reliable, comfortable ride, good customer service from Hyundai
Suggested Improvements
Improve fuel economy, or more powerful engine.

I purchased my Tucson back in May 05. Have had several problems once i hit the 30k mile mark. The dealership is awful when it comes to repairs. This car is built very poorly. i have a small "swipe dent" below the door frame and to replace it you wold have to take the whole side panneling off and would cost around $4,000! oh, and parts! NOT CHEAP! just to have my bumper replaced after a small fender bender was about $1500compared to other cars at now more than $800 for bumper. the interior is not roomy or comfortable. unusual stuff has been breaking like crazy (armrest panel, shifter, steering wheel) like others are saying i would say it is very noisy and gas mpg is awful!don't buy a hyaundai!
Favorite Features
can't say i don't like a thing about it. it's just plain poorly designed/engineered.
Suggested Improvements
-air vents for 2nd row passengers (absolutely none!)"surrounding" -radio (volume only goes to "37" mark, sound is poor) -higher off the ground, almost as low as regular sedan! -gas mileage/bigger tank -leather wrapped steering wheel -better cloth on seats (very itchy) -quieter ride -thinner paneling
Pretty tight little SUV

I purchased this vehicle used. With only 25k miles on it, I still have 2 years factory warranty on it. Pretty sweet! It drives great, has nice standard equipment, comfortable, and spacious enough for a family of 4 and a dog. After reading reviews of this car getting around 16 mpg, I was worried about that. But, I seem to be averaging 21 and am thrilled. It is a cute little SUV and hopefully it will last me for many years to come.
Favorite Features
5 star safety rating, comfy, plenty of leg room.
Suggested Improvements
Middle console kind of dinky, some road noise on highway.

Bought 06 Tuscon for daughter's 1st vehicle. Was captured by the amount of standard safety features packed into vehicle along with crash ratings for the price. Build quality was good, sound system good, original tires did not last, gas mileage not the greatest but she is a heavy vehicle so what do you expect. We found 4 cylinder unimpressive and went with the 6. Ride was good, plenty of space for my college bound daughter and she felt good in it. Last Saturday evening boyfriend was driving and he fell asleep at wheel with my daughter sleeping next to him. They hit a concrete wall at 35 MPH. Front end of vehicle demolished and they essentially walked away from a potentially lethal crash.
Favorite Features
Safety features, cargo room, comfortable vehicle, 4WD,safety features.

still stuck on safety features, the rest of this stuff ya'll can debate. But my daughter is here with me today, thanks to Korean engineering and safer vehicles. Looking for another Tuscon to replace the one we just totaled.

Review
I am writing to warn others. I have 28,600 miles on my original tires and had to be replaced today. I am disappointed in the quality of the tires on this vehicle and live and learn, I will look into this the next time I buy a car. So buyer be ware! If they are under warranty, I bet I would play ---- getting anything out of the company. I have read other reviews about this and now I can confirm it.
Favorite Features
I like the sportiness of my car. IT handles nice and has power.
Suggested Improvements
Put better tires on the car. Whatever happened to quality?

Nightmare

2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 4dr SUV (2.0L 4cyl 4A)

I have brought four different made of Hyundai vehicles since 2000. The last one is a Tucson which gives me the most headache. After it has been used for 16 months, the battery suddenly drained out and couldn't recharge after stayed in garage for 5 days. No interior nor exterior light were turned on. It happened in Jan, May and Sept 2009. I informed Hyundai USA customer service in May and they promised to "do something" if it happened again. Then, when the issue resurfaced in Sept, I called them. They either gave me the run around or simply not return my calls even I have case number. I wrote them email and no reply. What a service! It will be my last Hyundai vehicle(period).
Favorite Features
The exterior is cute and interior is comfortable. Not a bad vehicle if you paid that amount. The road side assistance and warranty are unbeatable. However, you need to pray and pick. The Hyundai dealers are nice and friendly.
Suggested Improvements
1. Hyundai USA customer service should stick to why they promised e.g. return phone call etc. 2. Quality control needs to be improved.

Review
I bought the Tucson because of Hyundai's warranty. I bought the 4-cylinder because I hoped it would save on gas. I was wrong...it gets HORRIBLE mileage. I get 16-19 MPG consistently...which is lousy and not what was advertised. It has 34000 on it now and is falling apart. I take very good care of my vehicles, but it doesn't seem to make a difference with this one. I would not buy a Hyundai again.
Favorite Features
Interior design...it's very clever and usable in many ways.
Suggested Improvements
Fix the build quality and long-term quality. Fix your transmissions. Fix your engines to get the mileage you advertise.

Beware of a Tucson
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Tucson GLS 4dr SUV 4WD (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
I purchased my 2006 Tucson new. I was expecting a great vehicle. Instead I got a vehicle with a lot of problems. The rotors warped at 300 miles and again at 14,500. I have had to have the radio replaced because it drained my battery on two occasions and left me with a dead car. The moonroof whistles and they cannot correct it. That is why they give you a deflector with the vehicle because it is a design flaw. The interior marks extremely easily and if very hard to clean when marked. The best I can get on gas mileage if 21.7 even though it was rated 19 and 24. I would never buy another Hyundai and cannot wait to get rid of the vehicle. The alarm system makes no sense.

I own 2006 Tucson diesel automatic UK spec bought new, I have had no problems with it whatsoever the acceleration is outstanding. Around town the mpg is 28, on a run I have achieved 54 mpg. The mpg figures obtained in the usa models are to say the least dire. Get a diesel much better

Review
I bought this as my parents had a Hyundai Santa Fe. It seemed more economical and sporty and it was my 1st SUV. Reliability has been great and very few services (non-standard) necessary. The car is only 2 years old and the armrest has broken due to the cold. Unfortunately the cost is over $300 to replace it. The horn definitely needed to be upgraded. And finally, who still listens to cassette's anymore?
Favorite Features
Reliability and sporty look.
Suggested Improvements
Improve the mileage average. it was rated 17-25 and during many long highway trips, it has never reached past 20 on avg. I have been averaging around 19mpgs. Issue with the armrest! The horn.
