Best value for the money
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Tucson Limited 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
I had previous cars and this one beats them all. I mainly purchased this vehicle for safety reasons (air bags) and the warranty coverage. To top it off Hyundai recalls are almost nil and none for Tucsons. I used to believe in American cars but my last one had five recalls in two years and they were all safety related (Ford)! And one prior also had multiple recalls (Pontiac). I just got tired of going back to the dealer and waste my time on things that were supposed to be done right the first time. Japanese recalls are on the rise. Hyundai quality has really improved and since money is tight these days, I can't afford to spend it frivilously. It is the best bang for the buck.
Favorite Features
Quiet engine/ride. Handling. Heated seats. Power outlets. Reclining rear seats. Ample rear leg room. Tire cover has multiple bins to store tools, etc. Solid feel. If you left your keys inside you can call someone with the same remote and open the vehicle with your cell phone, awesome!
Suggested Improvements
Stereo a bit tinny, no oomph even with the subwoofer. Center arm rest should be more forward. No latch to open the rear door from the front, have to use the key or remote.

Overrall i like the 2006 hyundai. my biggest cry is that the leather seat covering with just normal wear already has noticeable blemishes, the gas mileage remains consistant at aorund 21 miles/gal. i can never seem to reach that estimated 26miles/gal. promised to me,i can feel the slight roll motion navigating a curve under what wolud not normally be an isuue in most suv's. however,i like the comfort level and the relativley smooth ride of the vechicle...but if i had it do do again, i would probably choose something different.

better gas mileage, better quality leather for interior, improvement needed to better stabilize vehicle when rounding a curb

i have owned my gls for a little over 2 monthes now and so far it has been good except for the gas mileage. it is rated between 19-24 mpg and have yet to reach even 19 mpg despite moderate driving. even on the highway only 18 mpg which bothers the heck out of me. other than the mpg is been a fun car to drive.
Favorite Features
warranty, over all look

15,000 mile follow-up
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Tucson Limited 4dr SUV 4WD (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
I already reviewed (see below) right after purchase; here's my 15,000 mile update: Fuel economy is all the way up to 20.8 mpg with the 4WD V6. Pleasantly surprised with this, because I drive up and over a 9,000 foot mountain 2x a day and didn't expect the gas mileage to be this high after reading all the reviews. I've had zero problems with the vehicle, haven't had to go to the dealership for anything. Would still definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a safe (5-star crash ratings front & side), inexpensive 4WD with a great warranty. And it's not killing me at the pump, either. From a guy who spends 2 hours commuting every day in the worst conditions imaginable: 2 thumbs up.

One Owner's View
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Tucson GLS 4dr SUV 4WD (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Throughly satisfied with this car. Handling, braking, ride, comfort, power, 4WD, stability control, quiet ride, warranty service -- all as good or better than any other car I have owned. So-called "estimated mileage" (26-34 mpg highway) and actual mileage (16-22 mpg highway) are as bad as any using the outmoded EPA ratings.
Favorite Features
Seeming no end to large and small convenience features. Plus see above.
Suggested Improvements
None save accurate and better mileage.
Great value and performance

Review
This vehicle feels big inside but is not much bigger than the Elantra, and parks anywhere. Tons of nice features and safety packages (ABS, 6 airbags, TCS, ESC). Innovative fold-down hard back seats for cargo carrying. Interior looks better than expected for the money. No problems with acceleration or braking. Handling better than lots of non-SUVs I have owned. Warranty can't be beat.
Favorite Features
That 5-yr warranty is the best insurance. Next favorite: heated seats (I don't enjoy cold weather anymore). Easy to park, small turning circle. Electric window can be rolled up without key in ignition for a few seconds after turn-off. ABS - great!
Suggested Improvements
CD changer not so great mechanically - jammed, replaced; 2nd one brand new didn't work at all (being replaced). Paint on cladding too easy to mar. Mileage: improving (18 city) but still less than others in class. Rear seat noisey - nds more sound insulation in cargo area.

I had my heart set on a new 07 Honda CRV and liked the way it drove and looked but I simply could not justify paying $7000 more for the Honda with less accessories and warranty. While I feel that the Hyundai has a less sophisticated drive train than the Honda, in all other respects it meets or exceeds Honda quality. On the issue of MPG I have seen reviews where the owners were disappointed but I did a first check fill up and combined city/hgwy yielded 23.9 MPG which I feel is very acceptable for an SUV with a V6.
Favorite Features
The way it drives and the fact that it doesn't feel like a compact inside. Also the way that Hyundai treats it's customers - like they truly care about them being satisfied.
Suggested Improvements
None as yet - may do a follow up after I get some miles on car.

Review
I like everything about this vehicle except the engine- I bought it for the overall value (safety especially-air bags/stability control, etc.) and I am very satisfied- got the V6 for more performance but it's still weak and only 20mpg- It's still a good value vs. competitors.
Favorite Features
Safety, Fold down seats
Suggested Improvements
more sophisticated engine
