I recently had the identical problem this weekend while on a trip from Asheville, NC. My wife's Tucson (2005) lost power at about 75-80 mph when automatically downshifting to go up (what I consider to be) rather inconsequential hills. My husband and I currently own a 2002 hyundai santa fe and are wanting to upgrade to the tucson (used). We get to the dealer just after 12pm, test drive a 2005 tucson with 14,400 miles on it that was another companies lease. Tucson GL 4WD 4 cyl. Manual Trans I purchased my Tucson new in July 2005. It got great mileage for about the first 1500 miles the mileage then dropped to about 19 MPG since this was late October the dealer blamed this on cold weather ( October weather in Michigan is not cold).
