Hello All. My 2005 Tucson was my 2nd Hyundai, after a 2004 Elantra GT. I still have both cars. At 17,000 miles, my Tucson shuddered while going up a hill, I took it into the dealership and they repaired it. At 60,000 miles, while on a trip in Mexico it started jumping from Overdrive into 3rd, or 2nd gear. If I turned the car off and on again, it would be ... Read More
I have a 2005 Tucson GLS V6, and like so many others, I have had the battery drain issue. The first two times it was under warranty. The second two times I had to pay for the battery replacement. The dealers both in CA and IL always said silly things like I must have left the lights on, etc. I *always* turn everything off (lights, radio, AC, etc.) whenever I turn ... Read More

I wrote a letter January 2011 in reference to my 2005 Hyundai Tuscon's engine blowing up and their response was "the warranty for the second/subsequent owner is no longer in effect!" Please don't buy a Hyundai, same yourself a nightmare, I bought a 2005 Hyundai Tucson, and at first I was thrilled because this was my first new car for myself, I worked long and hard to be able to afford a reliable car and I chose the Hyundai Tucson, well after having the car since 2006 which is when I purchased the pre-owed SUV from Herb Chambers Dealership I'm starting to ... I too have a 2005 Hyundai Tucson, and I'm on my 3rd battery, but this time I had the dealership mechanic remove the radio fuse, and now I'm hoping this stops the drainage! I've read and I agree with yawl that the 2005 Hyundai Tucson Radio drains batteries dead, so I had the dealership mechanic remove my radio fuse, and two mechanics at the Wilmington Dealership told me that the Hyundai's Radios are terrible because they cause the drainage problems, so people just replace them because there are no good! So if by removing the radio fuse stops the problem wahooo, if not then ... Read More

So here's a new situation that I haven't experienced with any of my previous cars (none of them have been Hyundais). As a background, I own a 2006 V6 AWD AT Tucson, bought new. I had the EXACT same problem with a 2005 Tucson that I recently bought used. Did any of you ever resolve this problem?
I recently had the identical problem this weekend while on a trip from Asheville, NC. My wife's Tucson (2005) lost power at about 75-80 mph when automatically downshifting to go up (what I consider to be) rather inconsequential hills. I could stop the problem by manually upshifting the auto transmission but this (obviously) ends up lugging the engine and, when it downshifted, the power loss again happened This loss of power ... We own a 2005 Tucson (First new auto for us) and love it generally. However, it's been in the dealer shop for two weeks trying to fix an air conditioning problem. They've replaced everything, and called Hyundai USA and Korea about fixes, but the HQ says they've not heard ... Read More

I copied this from another place: airflyte, "Hyundai Tucson Maintenance and Repair" #10, 13 Jan 2007 12:57 pm#9 After my Tucson sits for two days, the battery goes dead. I've been doing some research on Hyundai and their paint since my 2005 Tucson has approximately 10 spots that look like the paint is bubbling from underneath.
