The 2003 in particular had several electrical faults, and of course the clutch failures on both the 4 and 6 cylinder engines. I HAVE a solution..THE solution. Hyundai never built stronger newer flywheel/clutch combo's for y'all and put them in free of charge as a giant Tibby recall. I was once interested in buying one of these cars, and I would've bought a Tib with a 5-speed manual, too. You may be able to get a break with a 08 new Scion Tc manual msrp 17900. (perhaps 16900 or better with some free (overpriced) add ons or an overallowance for your trade. In any event, I've read the 4 cyl in the Scion and eclipse much outperforms the 6 cyl tiberon and handling and quality is no match. For you to judge. Does anyone else have clearcoat on a 2007 model Tiburon already cracking? We have taken the car to a automotive paint shop and they used a magnifying glass to show us the spider web cracking of the clearcoat. I to hae a problem with my 2004 tiburon. the clutch keeps grabbing and i have to turn the car of if i want to go. I have had a mechanic look at it and he replaced the Hydraulics but the problem was still there. Hyundai have looked at it and have said nothing wrong but could be the mas flywheel. I have to agree with the Carfax idea and having the vehicle checked at a dealer. The clutch issue is a very costly repair, if done at a dealer. They have to take out the engine to do it and the hourly rate is stupid. The Hyundai dealer I worked for had one in the shop for a new clutch and instead of fixing it, the owner let it go back to the bank. Read More...

And you have asked for / reviewed the maintenance records correct?. I would, especially since this is a manual car, as many have had clutch issues. And with the hole you say is in the engine compartment I would ask him if something was living in there.
