My advice to anyone who is having clutch and flywheel problems is to get rid of that LEMON!! I posted a message in this forum just 11 months ago and I have to replace the damn thing again..My clutch did not even last one year..and again the price is going to be $2000+ to fix this piece of crap..I bought my Tiburon in December of 2006 and it is now September ... The msrp of the tiburon is about the same as the Scion tc that is similar. (See my message above) There is no comparison in quality. Scion wins. Scion is supposedly no dicker but with the depreciation of the tc (see 07 used kbb.com) from sticker there has to be some give. Usually in trade in over allowance or add ons for the no dicker types. Tiburon is probably worse in ... Read More

  • Outraged Tiburon Owner

Written by: mrbrown on Mar 19, 2008 4:50:12 PM

2006 Hyundai Tiburon SE clutch malfunctioning and failure. Poor quality and deformed parts used. Warranty classifies parts as "wear parts." I took my car in for its scheduled maintenance visit to Rick.Case. Hyundai in Roswell, GA. After 2 days I experienced acceleration issues and went back to R. C. Dealership. On duty Technician informed me the clutch was the source of the problem and it would cost me 2000.00+ USD. When ... Read More

I got a 2003 Tiburon and absolutey loved it. V6 - 6 speed/manual and i noticed from early on that the stick was a little stiff. I would have to apply some force when changing gears. Sometimes it would be a little still if it was cold outside but i really didn't see it as a problem, i truly believed that tiburons were just built a little different. Last week it ... Read More

Decided to wait till 2008's come out Called Hyundai consumer affairs & couldn't/wouldn't give me a date when they will be on car lots. Called corporate headquarters and they said we'll check with production and call back. That was a week ago. No reply. Anybody with firm knowledge ... Read More

When you jumped the car you probably damaged the ECM (Electronic Control Module). If you didnt jump it correctly (polarity) that could cause damage. The dealer would probably swap out the ECM, verify its fixed and charge you for a new ECM. You could also find one used for a few hundred dollars. Here is the troubleshooting procedure from the Hyundai Webtech site. At the very bottom in the alarm section ... Read More

We are having the same problem. Our 2003 Tiburon's clutch and fly wheel just went out. There was no warning. Just one day, the clutch seem different, so we took it into the 1st dealer. They drove it and said it was the clutch. Told us it would be around $2000.00 to fix it. They told us, it was they way we drove the car. Funny, since we have had many ... Read More

Written by: donnie on Aug 3, 2004 6:12:21 PM

Took my 2000 Tiburon to a newly-opened local repair shop. In 10 minutes an ace mechanic fabricated a clip so that the inboard headlight works like a charm now..beats shelling out mucho $$$ to a Hyundai dealer! Another puzzle I hope someone will comment on. The outboard headlights have a 2 filament halogen bulb, right? Then how come the high beams don't come on with the inboard high beams when the ... Read More

For $44.00 the dealer service probably looked at your pattern and said close enough. The spring clip that you lost: 1) You can copy the clip on the other headlight and make your own. You wont be able to use spring steel like the manufacter did but stiff wire. 2) You can look for a spare headlight on Ebay. I bought two for my Elantra GT for $85 each. 3) Hyundai ... Read More

  • AM Radio Problem

    Written by: srz948 on Jun 3, 2004 3:02:34 PM

I too had the problem with static on AM in my 2000 Tiburon. The inteference seemed to be tied into the heater/ac fan motor. As you increase the fan speed the noise gets louder. Anyway, my son replaced the radio with a Sony am/fm/cd/mp3 player. Not only has the inteference disappeared but the sound through the standard Hyundai speakers is fantastic.

It was great to see that Hyundai tied with Honda for 2nd place in the JD Power Initial Quality survey. I can also report that my sons 2000 Tiburon with 45k miles has just had its first repair under warranty. The axle seal at the transmission had a leak and the right front wheel bearing was shot. My 2003 GT V6 Tiburon now has 7k miles on it and has been ... Read More

The Tiburon has the look and feel of cars costing thousands more. The V6 is particularly smooth and powerful. I am very impressed with the leather faced seats and the switchgear. The Shiftronic lever moves with the precision and feel of a Lexus. A great dead pedal is perfectly located. By the way, this is the first car I've had in 20 years that has struts for the hood, not some ... Read More

Yeah, I know I said I was done. I woke up this morning and had it on my mind that you guys just don't understand my point. Yes, I do understand your point. My point is if Hyundai could take all the people that bought the Tiburon and when they brought their car in for service modify the car to have the rated 180 horsepower, guess what, you would be driving ... Not to really aggravate you or anything but I'm trying to understand where you are coming from. I owned a 2000 Hyundai Accent (and almost bought the 03 Tib) which was also affected by the hp snafu, but not as greatly as the Tiburon (it was rated at 92 but it really only had 89), so I was in a similar boat but it honestly didn't tick me off at all. ... We've had two Tiburons "in the family" so to speak. The first was a 2000 Cobalt Blue Tib loaded with every conceivable option BUT with the 5 speed manual (by request). It was given to me by my company as an "executive car" to use; otherwise, frankly, I never would have picked it. I was so surprised by it and smitten with it, that I really put it through its paces, ... Read More

I took a trip over to Santa Cruz today...total time around 5 hours there and back and never once did I leave the seat...as I neared home it occured to me just how comfortable those seats really are. Today I stopped by a Hyundai dealer to look at the 2003, and they had one in the color I craved the most, blue. It was quite pretty to look at. Right next to it was a 2001, also in blue. Having owned a 2000 Cobalt Blue Tib and currently having a 2001 Super Silver Tib in the garage (it's my girlfriend's) next to my Sonata, I'm intimately familiar with the ... Read More
