2014 Hyundai Sonata Sedan GLS PZEV 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 6A)

Review

Nice car and ride is smooth. This is an economical car with a roomy interior and plenty of trunk space. The dashboard controls are conveniently placed for both driver and passenger. It was purchased recently and hoping it will go well over 120,000 miles.

2014 Hyundai Sonata Sedan Limited 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 6A)

Review

I purchased a Sonata Hybrid Limited in April of 2013. About a year later, it seemed that an occasional panic stop would cause the car to stop abruptly rather than pulse to a safe stop. After noticing that it seemed to do that each of the few times that I applied the brakes in that manner, I took the car to the dealer, asking them to also check the brakes for a banging noise occurring each time the brakes were applied when coming to a stop sign/light.

Many months and service calls later, my VA Lemon Law attorney suggested that I might want to avoid Hyundai or Kia if I ever expected to have my interests considered. I traded in that piece of @)$(*^* as quickly as I could!

Best Features

The car was not a bad car to drive and I would not ding it so badly other than that Hyundai doesn't seem to care a wit about safety and the well-being of its customers.

Worst Features

Hyundai needs to give a damn about the people it serves. Brakes are a safety-related issue and I was dealing with two separate brake-related problems. One (abrupt stops) was illusive and hard to pin down although they replaced a master cylinder and fixed a line leak on separate service visits. The banging noise in the brakes was a known issue for which they 'had no solution'! I will never trust this manufacturer again!

2014 Hyundai Sonata Sedan GLS PZEV 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 6A)

Review

I picked up a 2014 GLS after several rides in a friend's 2013. All the current tech gizmos are there including butt warmers and a hi-res backup camera. The ride is comfortable and secure, handling is very good. Visibility is only average as the seating seems a bit low. The transmission has an "Eco" setting which works great on the highway but is annoying around town; regular mode delivers 25 mpg anyway in a 50/50 mix.

***Update. Highway economy is 34 regularly, very nice. The transmission downshifts regularly when the highway gets slightly hilly; a bit more engine torque wouldn't have hurt, I suppose.
