Furthermore, the simple fact that Hyundai has put the EPS button on the steering wheel for the 2014 Sonatas is a clear indicator that they are aware of the safety issue. I see it more as adding a feature for the 2014 mid-generation refresh, at relatively low cost, that was already present on a lesser model in their lineup--the Elantra GT.
Almost a month later and I still haven't heard from Legal or Regional. I'm going to write a scathing letter right now regarding the initial service center and the safety defect. However/ Before I did, I just wanted to thank this forum for helping me at least get the EPS changed at another dealership. Furthermore, the simple fact that Hyundai has put the EPS button on the steering wheel for the ... Read More
I am looking for a lease for a 2014 Hyundai Sonata GLS with popular package for $230/Mo including first months payment. Does that sound like a good deal?
Hyundai/Kia has been selling the 2011 - 2014 Sonata/Optima since 2010. Like you I was wary of a lack of track record on the Optima, which is why I made sure I bought the 2012 model instead of say an early 2011 example. The only problem the 2011 models had was a strut issue that caused the car to pull to the left. Kia recalled 38,000 Optima's and replaced the front ... Read More
The many improvements made for model year 2014 are exciting to me as an owner. Not cutting-and-pasting as you incorrectly allege but reading and condensing info from Hyundai. Not reprints or copied comments from ‘14 Sonata reviews; car is too new for those. I am also including many personal observations such as: “Very good analysis Dudley.” “Consumers aren’t buying boatloads of Sonatas because they have the most horsepower; the spacious interior ... "Building on their well deserved reputation as a design leader, Hyundai designers and engineers have upgraded nearly every system in the 2014 Sonata". Dude, come on man. What are your PERSONAL experiences with your car?
Yeah backy I checked it out. Both the 2014 Sonata and the Optima are reporting horsepower reductions to 190 and 192 depending on single or dual exhaust. Makes you wonder if our cars ever really produced 198 and 200 that I am so proud of. After seeing many comparo's in many magazines I always noticed that our Sonoptima's were not generating performance figures commiserate with the stated horsepower and weight of ... Read More
The epa has a 2 mpg difference between the Sonata and the Accord, which admittedly isn't huge, but some independent tests seem to find something similar. For instance, this AutoGuide comparison had the Sonata getting 27.4 mpg while the Accord got 29.8, a difference of slightly more than 2 mpg. We actually did hit 40 once on a hwy trip with the CVT Accord, and so I think it does still ... Read More
"so Hyundais' Assurance Connected Care, the industry-leading telematics services program, which comes standard for three years with all 2014 Sonatas, gives the Korean automaker a huge edge." So where do you get this stuff from, a Hyundai sales brochure? Most of your posts look like they are copied and paste from advertising.
One selling point for mid-sized sedan buyers are the, if you will, “infotainment” systems most vehicles are built around. Ford is still trying to recover from its myTouch disaster so Hyundais' Assurance Connected Care, the industry-leading telematics services program, which comes standard for three years with all 2014 Sonatas, gives the Korean automaker a huge edge.
"The Sonata’s quick-ratio steering rack has a turning diameter of 35.8 feet, better than the Accord, Camry, Altima, Fusion and Chevy Malibu. Easier to park." True, but.... The Sonata's IIHS small-offset crash test rating was Marginal, which is worse than the Good rating of the Accord, and the Acceptable rating of the Altima, Optima, Fusion, Passat, Legacy, Fusion, Chrysler200, etc. The Sonata is a fine car and very competitive in most ... kyrpto wrote: "the spacious interior sells more units. " More units than what? The Camry, Accord, Fusion, and Altima sell way more units than the Sonata. The Sonata is a fine car, and for 2014 Hyundai has added some nice improvements, but it's far from being a sales leader. Hope they fix the blind spots on the Sonata for 2015.
Hyundai reduced the hp on the Sonata for 2014?? My 2013 GLS makes 198 hp, and the SE 200 I believe.
Let me rephrase it for the Hyundai sales staff. On the USAA website for my zip code one CAN purchase a 2014 Honda accord for between $1,000 and $2,000 less than the equivalent 2014 Hyundai sonata.
Appears is the key word here. Hyundai is well known for discounting the MSRP so you can't really speak to the actual purchase prices folks wherever you are will be offered. According to many the much improved 2014s offer even greater value for the money, adding numerous highly desired features with an MSRP increase of only $155 on the Sonata GLS.
In looking at the USAA prices for my area it appears Hyundai, the one-time "value or price leader" costs more than an accord. Although the 4 cyl 2014 accord stickers for $1,000 or more per equivalent sonata it actually can be purchased for $1,000 to $2,000 less than the equivalent 2014 sonata.
Building on their well deserved reputation as a design leader, Hyundai designers and engineers have upgraded nearly every system in the 2014 Sonata. More than 50 of the Sonata’s major sub-systems are new or redesigned. A few more examples: New full-leather steering wheel on SE and Limited New eight-inch navigation screen New color audio screens with HD Radio and rearview camera integration – optional on GLS and standard on SE and ... I'm sorry.. but, we didn't get the October numbers for Hyundai.. regards, kyfdx
Hey kyfdx, Do you know what the October rate and residual is for a 2014 Sonata SE 2.4L, 36 Month 12,000 Mi/Yr? Also, does anyone know if Hyundai is honoring the same $1500 retail cash and valued owner $500 coupon on the 2014's that they currently have on the 2013's? Or is there something similar out there for the 2014's? Thanks
Hyundai is upping the ante in the mid-sized sedan segment with these upgrades to the 2014 Sonata: New 17- and 18-inch wheels HID Xenon headlights LED taillights Driver Selectable Steering Mode (DSSM) – standard on all trims Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) – standard on all trims Tire-specific Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) – standard on all trims Sport-tuned dual exhaust – standard on SE 2.0T Driver’s blind spot mirror – optional ... The Fusion hybrid does have one of the best mpg ratings but it does cost quite a bit more than the 4cyl as does the Camry. Consumer Reports really likes it too. The MKZ hybrid is not as good deal a deal as the Ford. I'm sure Honda will price their hybrid just as high as Toyota whenever it finally arrives. However, Sonata hybrids can be had for about the same ... Read More
Agreed. Seems like krypto is trying to move the remaining 2013 Sonata's on the lot to make room for the refreshed 2014 units due in showrooms in about 45 days. He is probably right about there being legitimate deals right now, but I would wait 2 months and pick one up after the dealer is stuffed with 2014's and is truly in more desperate need of moving those pesky last 2013's ... True, Toyota has ultimate responsiblity, but this is why it's smart to buy the one's made in Japan, not the one's made in the USA. The Sonata is a global model, and while it does have Korean plates; there is nothing in the pictures suggesting that the car would need any changes to sell it in the USA. There are no drivetrain changes and the bulk of the difference in looks is limited to wheels, LED lighting, and better quality interior assembly w/ added center stack buttons. :) Here are the pictures again for all to ... I agree. The photo car is the same color as my wife's 2013 Sonata, and without looking VERY carefully I can't see any change from the 2013 model (except her car is a GLS, so there's slight exterior diffs just because of that). And the interior of the photo car is a bit different, but again it's a loaded model so I can't tell how it will translate to the GLS. ... Read More
Here are some pics of the 2014 Sonata. Hyundai really did good work on the new interior...though it's a bit too grey. The exterior looks great too, especially the new front end. The car is shown in top level trim, complete with 20" rims, LED headlights and fogs, dual exhaust, and blackout roof with an electro-chromatic self darkening sunroof. http://macedonemiles.blogspot.com/2013/04/2014-sonata-refresh-revealed.html I can only wonder how the bread and butter GLS will ... Just wanted to comment on drivability of these two. We own a 2011 Sonata 2.0T. First off it's a great car over all without going into all the details. After many attempts by the dealer to align and rotate and exchange the tires it came down to replacing the front struts. They ... Read More
Have been shopping and test driving a few mid-sizer's: The 2014 Mazda 6 sport was a hoot to drive, the four almost has the torque of a V-6. The Sonata and Optima share many components including powertrains, but the front ends are significantly different. That alone could account for the difference in crash scores. It doesn't take much to get a bump in the scores... witness the ability to make small running changes to a design to move up a level. Will be interesting to see if Hyundai does that with the Sonata, which is due for a mid-gen ... Read More
