2012 Hyundai Sonata SE 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 6A)
bought mine about 2 months ago. MPG as advertised is not!! advertised 24/35 and on hwy i get 29 and in town I get 18. when I took to dealer ship to have looked at, service department told me that everyone he knows does get 29 hwy. the digital readout may say 34 but when you divide the miles driven by gallons put in, it doesn't match the readout. Anyone can make a computer readout say anything they want to. I would not buy this car again due only to the false advertisement on the sticker on the MPG. The fine fine fine print on sticker says the average person will get 28-39. Can you say WOW what a difference in range.
And car has alot of road noise.
I read the Motor Trend test that included the 2012 Camry and 2012 Passat. They also got bad gas mileage on their Sonata GLS. The Camry LE got 6.5 mpg more than the Sonata in their test. That's a huge difference. It shouldn't be any more than a 2 mpg difference. The EPA figure suggests only a 1 mpg difference. Time will reveal the problem. I wouldn't take the dealer's word, that's for sure!
The fine print on the sticker for MPGs is on EVERY car. It's a huge range for sure, but every car's window sticker shows that huge variance in mileage. Even though Hyundai was sued over mileage claims, there are several owners saying they can obtain or beat the EPA rated figures. It boils down to your driving habits.
