There are some opinions that Hyundai has some best in class offerings. CR ranks Elantra on top in small cars, and Genesis on top in upscale sedans, for example. Sonata is a pretty old design now, but I think it has a good chance for some "best in class" awards next year. I will go out on a limb and predict the 2011 Sonata will be the next MT COTY. Yes I am the owner of this hyundai. Today I took to the dealer and they are going to inspect and contact hyundai regarding that. dealer asked me to agree to pay $130 for the inspection in case if hyundai is not taking care of that. Yes you are both right, but in this case I kind of wasn't wrong. What I did do wrong was to compare apples to oranges, my figures came from the side by side comparison with the (2009) Taurus se fwd, and the Sonata 2009 se fwd. You are also right big difference in 2009 Taurus vs 2010/2011 Seems the exterior grew while the interior shrunk. My bad, sorry for the confusion Read More...

All these discussions are what this forum is all about, sharing info about the differences and likes or dislikes of cars. The list of cars in the earlier post was to show that all those car makers still offer the V6 and V8's in their 2009 and 2010 models. Some of them don't offer a 4 cyl. in their car line at all. I wonder. I've driven a couple of dozen (at least) 2006-2009 Sonatas over the years. Only one had a suspension noise I considered unusual. It was definitely a "thunk", albeit a faint one, over large bumps like railroad crossings. It was a used 2008 car with about 24k miles on it. So why do only some Sonatas exhibit this noise? I think you did mention you have the new version 2009 Sonata I4? Even if it is not the new version you should " IN THEORY" get a minimum of at least as good or a little better than the V6. The I4 is made by Hyundai just like the V6 so it will get that kind of MPG on an average, some owners post that on their reviews as they do w/ the V6. BUT in some cases they also report the same ... My last reply was to your inferance to REAL WORLD MPG as you put it, not the EPA rating. Everyone who reads a sticker price on a new car sees that, and it also says actual mpg will vary for different drivers, and in real world that is what happens.
