Love the gas mileage, hate the quality
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 4dr Sedan (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
Review
It has about 57000 miles on it and it's had 3 struts replace and 3 of the mounting brackets for the struts. The cruise controls are in a bind and are going to be replaced. Paint on both bumpers is cracked. Dealer repainted the hood but I got it back with the cluster assembly cracked in 4 places. Motor is very noisy when cold. Gas mileage is 27-28.
Favorite Features
gas mileage, performance, looks
Suggested Improvements
Paint on bumpers, quieter engine when cold, Need a big improvement on suspension.

Looking forward to owning this for years

2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 4dr Sedan (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I previously owned a 2001 Elantra GLS, which I drove from 31k to 191k on the odometer. I bought this Sonata with 25k on the odo. Hopefully it can get me beyond 191k. I love the bigger engine, even though there is a little sacrifice with fuel economy. The car is put together very well and is a great car for highway driving. Granted, the suspension doesn't shield noise as well as the Accord, but given the price difference, it's hard to justify buying the Japanese brands. For the money, this car is difficult to beat.
Favorite Features
Exterior styling, fit and finish, power, interior capacity, big trunk, smooth highway ride
Suggested Improvements
Suspension noise at low speeds, loud seat belt chime (at least it gets you to put on your belt right away)

I love my Sonata!

2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 4dr Sedan (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I traded a 2002 Elantra for my '06 Sonata and what an upgrade! I commute 100 miles per day, which is what led me to purchase a Hyundai in the first place, due to the fantastic warranty. I bought my Sonata on Mother's Day of '06 and now have almost 80k miles on it. I have had no problems with this car. It does not let me down. It's fun to drive with plenty of pick up and roomy comfort. I have taken on several long trips and it averages about 30 MPG on the highway. I have gotten as much as 39 MPG out of it, but under limited circumstances. This is a really great car! Mine is black, so always dirty, but I really love it.
Favorite Features
HUGE trunk. Roomy interior. Plenty of pick up. Great styling. No worry warranty. Even after 80k miles it rides well, isn't loud, and is still very solid. Very well built car (built in Alabama).
Suggested Improvements
It was difficult when it was new to find places to get the oil changed (non-dealer), but no longer. Better audio controls on the steering wheel. World's most annoying and over zealous seatbelt warning! If you leave your headlights on all the time, bulbs have to be changed quite a bit more often.

Super value

2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 4dr Sedan (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I bought this car used and commute across town daily. I have had zero problems! As others have said, the fit and finish and quality of build is far better than expected. The switches feel solid. It is fast (coming from an owner of many muscle cars) and inspires confidence in traffic. I would like a bit tighter suspension, but I didn't buy it as a sports car,so that's fine. The seat felt strange for about one day, and I've found it quite comfortable in the last year. I have no problems with the AC/heater controls and radio positions that others have noted. I added a subwoofer to the factory stereo and it is incredible, and I still have lots of trunk. This car is a great value.
Favorite Features
Stability control already saved me once in snow. Powerful V6. First gear launches like a rocket and it never lags throughout the rest of the range. The interior is quiet and solid. Factory stereo is more than adequate. Love the sunroof.
Suggested Improvements
More radio controls on the steering wheel. Otherwise - If you don't like the buzzer, put your seat belt on like you're supposed to! I've heard mine once!

Bought this as a replacement for a older bonneville. Although it looks smaller, the overall size is only an inch or so different. Car has great pickup and the handling is excellent.

I Love My Car
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Sonata LX 4dr Sedan (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
Review
My 1998 Mazda died and I looked for a used one, but way too expensive. Happened upon the Hyundai, reluctantly went into the dealership. He took me for a ride and I thought, there's gotta be something wrong with this car. The dealer sent me home with it for the day and I went back the next day and took it for the day. Incredible is all I can say. Love it... I'm short so I can never see where I am going. This car is amazing. I don't even have to turn around when backing up cuz I just look in the rear view mirror. The ride is like gliding on a glass slipper. I call it my Cinderella car and it didn't break my bank buying it. Wish the gas mileage was a bit better, but I can live with it.
Favorite Features
Ability to see out of the car. Seating is incredibly comfortable. Love the electric heated seats and love the leather interior. Just a beautiful, comfortable and reasonably priced car.
Suggested Improvements
Better stereo system and better sounding horn. It sounds like a sick cow.

Squeaky Squaky Suspension
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Sonata LX 4dr Sedan (3.3L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I love my '06. Bought it used. Only one thing I hate besides the seat belt chime is the car creaks and groans over speed bumps and or rough driveways. Sounds like the rear window is being flexed or something back there is flexing and creaking. Dealer can't find anything. They've reinforced the package shelf and replaced the rear shocks. No noise when it's rainy outside and the road is wet. Anybody have this problem or have a solution? Great car, otherwise!
Favorite Features
electrochromatic rear mirror with compass, seat comfort and quiet ride. Love the car!
Suggested Improvements
Lose the seat belt and door ajar racket. Doesn't need to be so obnoxious while making its point.

Ole!

I previously drove a V8 SUV. Loved my truck but I am in love with this car. I drive over an hour commute each way four days a week. My truck was a tank so I didn't worry about semi's and other SUV's. With this car, the speed and ease at which I am able to change gears and lanes means no worries because they can't catch me. I am big so the roomy interior and space between the steering wheel and driver seat is fantastic. A huge roomy trunk and spacious back seats means my passengers are just as comfy. Car only has single cd and no MP3 adapter so aftermarket stereo is a must. The speakers sound pretty nice and since I love all music a booming base is not necessary. Gas is pretty good!
Favorite Features
roomy, lots of cubby holes for toll money, cd's etc... leather seats with seat warmers, v6 engine (zoom! zoom!, I have the maroon in the pic. and it looks darker almost black sometimes. Great exterior coat!
Suggested Improvements
expand stereo controls for steering wheel to include more than volume, ff, rev, mode, sunroof and changer should be standard in all LX, tires are loud on highway but great in heavy rain, horrible windshield wipers, automatic light indicator on rearview and automatic, not on steering wheel

Comfort is so so
Vehicle
2006 Hyundai Sonata GL 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 4A)
Review
I have owned my car for 17 months, bought is at 13k miles, now at 38,500k. So far it's been very reliable except for one issue. It has a tendency to cut out or have minor hesitation when going up hills. Dealership says nothing is wrong, not hard coding. I use the 100% gas (non ethanol)and it seems to help. The front seats lack comfort. My back quickly starts hurting on trips, I must use a small pillow for the lumbar area. Have already had the following replaced: Driver side door lock, sun visor and window assembly.
Favorite Features
Great gas mileage 28 city 31-32 hwy. Back seats are comfortable. Great pwr for a 4 cyl and has a nice smooth and quiet ride.
Suggested Improvements
1)Improve the AM portion of the radio, 2)Place speakers higher in the back seat area, hard to hear stereo 3)Please better seats in the front!!! 4)Need more height between seat and floorboard in the front. 5) Put a door lock on the passenger door.
