Car is a great vehicle for highway driving. Very comfortable rides smooth. Suggest 6 cyl motor. No real maintenance problems. ALERT: Save some EXTRA CASH for the 60,000 mile maintenance schedule. At 60,000 miles The Timing Belt must be changed $450 - $500 change spark plugs $350 schedule fluid changes (tran cool oil) $300.
Favorite Features
Rides nice. Looks good 6 cyl motor gets up and goes when needed to pass Fits 4 people comfortably. Mechanically dependable.

Ready for another Hyundai

2005 Hyundai Sonata GLS 4dr Sedan (2.7L 6cyl 4A)

Both the car used with 15,000 mile on it for $14K and have only replaced oil at regular service times. Wife loves it. Opens the sunroof and lets the wind blow through her hair with the stereo turned up loud. Handles great even from the passengers front seat (mine). Some times I even get to drive it if I am lucky. Have a Buick Roadmaster that is going to be traded for a new Sonata maybe an 08' or 09'. 30 MPG for the wife ans she has a lead foot. The new v6's have 50 plus HP so I know I will be happy with it and the interior is even nicer and roomier.
Favorite Features
Sunroof, Heated seats, Stereo, V6 Engine
Suggested Improvements
More horse power, bigger cup holders

When I buy a car, I keep it on average about 9 years, about twice as long as the length of the loan. I will keep this car for at least that long. I like that its body style -sort of Mercedes/Jaguar looking. Glad I got one of the last new 2005's with that body style. The only complaint I have is the paint on the door handles (inside and out) is starting to flake off, especially on the much used driver's door. A small fix, I'm sure. I have only had 4 cars in my life (the first 3 were Datsun B210, Mercury Sable, Chevy Lumina -- I kept them for a long time, too). This is by far the all-around best one I've owned.
Favorite Features
Body Style. Good to see that all the other years of this car have recalls. Not the 2005!
Suggested Improvements
Paint on the door handles is flaking off.

Good 1st Car

2005 Hyundai Sonata GL 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I bought this car for my wife, whom is also an import, for a first car to learn with. I was pleasantly surprised with the handling. The car feels very nimble even in the mountains. The 4 cyl engine is smooth, but noisy. Not bad after getting moving at a moderate pace. Everything is built cheap and lightly, which probably explains the nimbleness. It has standard cloth seats which are not very comfortable. Good gas mileage.

Seats, cheap plastic design

Horrible Car!!!!

2005 Hyundai Sonata GLS 4dr Sedan (2.7L 6cyl 4A)

My husband and I bought a Hyundai thinking it would be a great purchase....We were wrong!!!! After 2 months of owning the car it has needed a new timing belt, radiator and engine!!!!! ALSO, under 3 RPM's the car rattles. We have brought it to numerous dealerships and none have been able to fix the problem. We wish we could just return the car!!!!
Favorite Features
The exterior, interior, fuel economy, and above all the warranty!!!!

Had this car for three years, 31000 miles. Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with this car. No rattles, everything works fine, mileage ok for a 6 cylinder. I would buy another in a heart beat.
Favorite Features
Most liked feature is the roominess, then nimbleness (handling), quiet, CD/Tape/Radio is excellent, climate control is excellent. Power seat superb.
Suggested Improvements
Umbrella compartment in the drivers door. [I live in Alabama, rains a lot]

Quality, Reliable Luxury with Tiny Price

2005 Hyundai Sonata LX 4dr Sedan (2.7L 6cyl 4A)

My 2005 Sonata has all the bells that you would expect to find on a car that costs $10K more. It's zippy - great for driving to work - and in the 3+ years I've owned it, I have NOT ONCE had any issues. It is the most maintenance-free vehicle I have ever owned. (Had a Ford Explorer and Mits. Eclipse before - both were ALWAYS in the shop.) In fact, 3 other family members have since bought Hyundais (new and used) and no one has had any mechanical problems, which leads me to believe that the negative reviews are fairly isolated. I am now looking to buy the Veracruz - sticking with Hyundai because of the value & quality of its product. I trust Hyundai and definitely would buy another.
Favorite Features
heated seats, heated side mirrors, auto dimmer, zippy and fun to drive, interior is beautiful(leather, wood trim), exterior is older style (which I like for its curves).
Suggested Improvements
mp3 adapter.

This car has never broke down and been to the dealer for unnecessary service. This has been the most dependable car I have ever owned. Great mileage! 34 mpg highway. I have put on more than 75,000 mile. When I trade in someone will have a great car.
Favorite Features
sun roof, great mpg, body styling, trouble free motoring.
Suggested Improvements
Horrid shake through steering wheel, burn headlight bulbs like they were candles (I have used 8 so far. Zero trade in value-too bad!

My car is great! I have the features of a more expensive vehicle, without the expensive vehicle price. The 100,000 mile warranty is super. I had a fuel pump die, and the company sent a tow truck and fixed the issue at no cost to me. I wish my wife had bought one instead of that Ford Focus.

2005 Hyundai Sonata GLS 4dr Sedan (2.7L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Great exterior styling. Great interior, simply controls easy to use. Quite possibly one of the best performing cars in its class that I have ever driven. The exterior styling makes the sonata look much more expensive than it really is.
Favorite Features
The whole package adds up to great car.
Suggested Improvements
None because it seems Hyundai got it right from the word go.
