2011 Hyundai Sonata

Sonata YF / i40 to european market.

Posted this in hyundai-forums.com, but got no usefull replies: Just got my sonata 09 totaled in a crash front and back... No personel damages at all. I'm considering if i should wait to get the new YF, i40. Or buy a second hand right now (takes 3-4 months to get a new from Korea) I get misleading information on when it arrives here in europe (Denmark). Posts and blogs ... Read More...

Sonata vs Optima

Re: Sonata vs Optima [lhy]

looks like the 2004 Sonata is a little larger than Optima, Sonata is a tad longer, and interior is a little bigger. The engine I4 2.4L 138 HP or the same on both cars, EPA mpg is the same also. If you would like, their is a website you can go to and check them out. Go to Google.com and put in search line. 2004 sonata side by side comparison, then click on site (cars.com) follow ... Hyundai Sonata Brakes

Re: 2007 Sonata rear brake issue [haidong]

Why so much interest "to stay Hyundai board" ?? Yes, I owned Hyundai....I happen to have had two Hyundai products personally (2003, 2004 Santa Fe), my son had a 2000 Elantra that when sold had 193,000 miles with no significant problems, my daughter still owns a 2003 Elantra GT. I happen to like Hyundai and plan to buy a 2010 Sonata hybrid (if they release it for 2010) ... Read More...

Hyundai Sonata Maintenance and Repair

Re: Parts question [jnichols1]

The 2003, 2004, and 2005 models were almost identical; very, very few changes were made between those years (and as an owner of a 2003 (and a 2009), I can't tell the difference visually between the models). Changes between a 2002 and a 2003 were slightly more significant, as there was a major facelift in 2003; 2005 was a "short run" ala the way the 2010 model will be, ... Read More...

Re: 2004 SONATA 2.4-ELECTRICAL ISSUES ^OO^ [joe_momma_foo]

I am not a mechanic, but we now own a 2009 SE V6 w/5at, this may or may not be a answer to your problem, but if your car has the auto trans I would get them to check it next. For quite a few years now most auto trans or electronically controlled not like older types that have actual linkage to the transmission. I don't think engine monitoring system detects transmission ... Read More...

Hyundai Sonata Subframe Rust

Re: 2000 Sonata Sub Frame Rust [mark327]

There's a recall that is "officially" for 2001-2004 Sonatas for the subframe. But interestingly, this recall shows up when you do a search on recalls for 1999 and 2000 Sonatas also. So I am wondering if Hyundai might honor the recall for your car? The NHTSA recall ID is 09V124000. You can either find details at the NHTSA site or at sites like Edmunds.com (look up ... Sonata vs Optima

Sonata vs Optima

Is the 2004 Hyundai Sonata the same car as a 2004 Kia Optima? I am looking at buying a used car and possibly choosing between the two. All things being equal, is one model preferable over the other? How reliable are the transmissions and engines on these vehicles? (I have heard that the timing belts tend to wear out quickly) Is the V6 engine better than the 4-cylinder ... Read More...

Midsize Sedans 2.0

Re: 100k/Lifetime Powertrain Warranties not Transferrable [jeffyscott]

Yep. For a few years, Hyundai allowed the powertrain warranty to transfer within a family, but they stopped doing that in (I think) 2003. So I simply retain the title to my 2004 Hyundai while my son uses up its 10 year powertrain warranty. :) It's kind of funny I think that you can buy a used car (i.e. a certified used car) that has more manufacturer warranty than a new ...
