    I check my oil in all my cars once a week. I have a 2005 Elantra, 2005 Sonata GLS and a 2011 Limited. I have had NO problems with any of my cars. Hyundai makes a great car.

    ryster: I agree with checking the oil periodically with the dipstick. Same issue comes up on other brands and owners complain they were not warned by the car. The oil life indicators cause lots of confusion. Hopefully Hyundai will not get a reputation for wiggling out of their great warranty because the market will punish them.     I forgot, use Costco or Amex or Zag car buying service with MD zip codes and you will get better pricing than NYC. Know of a person who got superb deal in NJ on an Altima which has up to 3150 in rebates plus dealers will knock off 1600-2000 additional.

    The Sonata has a low oil pressure light (the dripping oil can light.) It will illuminate if the oil level is low. Page 4-57 of the owner's manual.     I agree - my last 2 cars (2004 Kia Amanti & 2000 Hyundai XG 300) had black leather interiors, they looked great, but I was ready for a change. Since the dash, steering wheel & trim on my Venetian red Sonata are not black, but a dark brown the camel leather coordinates nicely, a refreshing change.

    Fitzmall in Clearwater is selling new '11 Sonatas for around 1200 under MSRP. When you consider that Shabadoo's deal $2500 included $500 loyalty rebate it was really $2000 under MSRP if not a current Hyundai owner now. That's only a $825 difference. Depending on where you live in Florida it may be easier to pick one up there. Just a thought.

    Just call the national Hyundai phone number and tell them what is going on. In my case, they sent a tow truck out free of charge to pick up my 2002 model. I think it had about 110K miles at the time. The subframe was replaced and I was given a loaner car to drive.

    There's a recall that is "officially" for 2001-2004 Sonatas for the subframe. But interestingly, this recall shows up when you do a search on recalls for 1999 and 2000 Sonatas also. If I was Hyundai I would say "So your brakes where worn to 50% in 30,000 miles and you had a non-Hyundai mechanic work/Inspect them and 2000 miles later the pads wore out. That sounds like the braking system was damaged/mis-adjusted by the independent mechanic"
