No, it is not likely given Hyundai just did a major refresh of the Sonata for the 2009 MY. The last Sonata design lasted 6-1/2 years, from late 1998 to early 2005, with a major refresh after year 3. In other words, if you paid more than $1,200 or so more for the Accord in 1998 than the Sonata, you made out better financially with the Sonata--assuming you invested the difference at a minimum of 6% interest, or maybe paid off another debt that was at 6% or greater. I looked up a 1998 Accord LX vs a 1998 Sonata GL with both being in good condition and having 120K miles. The Accord was worth $3300 trade-in and the Sonata was only worth 1/3 of the Accord's value at only $1100. So, even after 10 years and 120,000 miles, there is a major resale value difference. 25K is way too early, more so for rear brake pads. How much life are they estimating is left on the front pads? If you can believe it, my 1998 Accord's pads lasted 90K miles (front) and 132K miles (rear). I'm not expecting you to compare with additional options, just base to base. Clearly, it isn't helping your cause, so you're trying to hide behind the curtains that is "options". Im telling the truth a honda dealer is going to charge you about a thousand or more i live in san francisco, where everything is expensive, even for my 1998 sonata they wanted almost thousand dollars including the waterpump, i cannot stand cars with timing belts they are disposable. You cannot compare a 2006-current Sonata to the 1998-2002 Honda Accord, both of the current Sonata engines use timing chains, All sonatas regardless of trim level come with stability control, In my opinion Honda Copied Hyundai as in terms of safety, Honda did not have active head restraints until the 2006 sonata had them, that tells me that Honda is taking Hyundai ...
