Re: 2006 Sonata - High Rev at Start-up [coldgl]

The tapping on start up are the valve lifters "pumping up" after an extended shut down time...say overnight. The lifters drain oil back out eventually and until they pump up again (refill with motor oil) they do not have the "hydraulic cushion" oil under pressure provides. While not exactly what one would like to hear on a new-ish car it isn exactly unheard of. ... Read More...

Midsize Sedans 2.0

Re: 2011 Hyundai Sonata- Game Changer? [deltheking]

I think the pressure is already on, other than Sonata's big change f/ 2009 the only car in the midsize class that I can think of maybe the Mazda6, 2010 or 2011 may see others follow suite another change f/ Hyundai is in the works. According to auto industry stats I have seen and read about, show slump in sales for all the car makers midsize sedans, except 1, their sales ... Read More...

Re: Wrong Guys [hyundaismoke]

Actually the first Hyundai hybrid came in 1995, followed in 1999 by an Elantra-based hybrid and in 2000 by the Accent hybrid. None of those were available to the general public though. It appears the Elantra/Avante will be the first mass-produced Hyundai hybrid, due out this summer in the ROK with a LPG engine and lithium-polymer batteries. But the Sonata hybrid ... Read More...

Hyundai Sonata Brakes

Re: 2007 Hyundai Sonata 4cyl. rear brake issue [carpsmarsh]

I have already posted a "general" explanation concerning brake rotor rust however it seems several posters are undeterred about "blaming" Hyundai and or filing reports with NHTSA. The description concerning your experience about having a brake service every 15,000 miles to aleviate this rust issue is vague. I personally live in the rust belt and Pa has never ... Read More...

Re: Sonata 2003 Starting Problems [msgdfx1]

I have a 2003 GLS V6 (and a VERY new 2009 GL I4 Auto). I've NEVER had this issue with the 2003... closest that happened is that after my son triggered the car alarm about two years ago, the alarm system shut the car down, and then "locked"... nothing (not the remotes, not the keys, NOTHING) would get the car to start, though it behaved close to the way you're describing ... 2009-2010 Hyundai Sonata

Re: Sonata vs Accord [reechz]

To reechz who is on the fence about purchasing the Sonata, bite the bullet! You'll be getting a lot more bang for your buck with the Sonata and the warranty is unbeatable. I too was concerned about quality (I was a former Camry owner with 200k miles) because I drive my cars into the ground, but I rest assured with the excellent warranty. There isn't a day that goes by ... Read More...

Market Adjustments????

the Hyundai dealer here in Fayetteville, NC, has added a "market adjustment" sticker to up the "MSRP" on the Sonatas. This new "adjustment" adds $1995 to the cost of the car (just$5 less than the 2k rebates). Is anyone else seeing this type of shennanigans in their area? Read More...

2009-2010 Hyundai Sonata

Please leave your feedback......... Thanks

I bought my 2007 I4 Sonata before 14 months. I put over 13,000 miles on it so far. The car is reliable and I never took it to the dealer for any services. However, there are few areas where Hyundai can make improvements. The engine is noisy when you push it hard but it is quite at highway speeds (cruising). The suspension system can be isolated to reduce noise. The dash ... Read More...
