I thought I'd chime in on the subject since I've driven quite a few 4th generation Sonatas, both rentals and test drives (15+ miles) at dealerships: 2006: 3 GLS models (1 rental), 1 LX model 2007: 1 GLS model, 2 SE models (1 rental) 2008: 1 GLS model (rental) 2009: 1 GLS model I own a 2006 GLS V6. Hi, my name is Chris and I just purchased a 2006 Sonata GLS V6 with about 20K on the odometer. I think it was an Enterprise rental car as the dealer (Gartner Hyundai in Aurora, IL) had quite a few in different colors. At least you're being honest by seeing 1998 Accord in 2005 Sonata. I wasn't talking about tape measurements, but the shape which is undeniably similar. And you might not have noticed, Accord Coupe doesn't have the same headlamps as the sedan. Or, are you disagreeing with those who have been suggesting that Accord looks like Sonata? If you're going to only keep the car a few years - say less than the 10 year powertrain warranty period - I would say go for the Lambda V6. But, if you intend to keep the car longer, I would strongly suggest you consider the Theta Inline 4 cylinder. When maintenance is required, it will cost much more on the V6, as any transverse V6 is simply much harder to work on than a ... Read More...

I rented a 2007 Hyundai Sonata V6 (not leather) yesterday and have driven it about 150 miles, much of it on a freeway at 70-80 mph. My initial and continuing impression is that it has a lot of road noise, both from the pavement and from other cars (that mostly in city traffic). I'm not making judgements on the car itself, or the total cost of ownership... The Sonata may be the greatest car ever manufactured, but it doesn't hold it's value very well. How do we know what 2006-2007 Sonata's will sell for 5 years down the road? All I have to go by is the fast-rising quality of Hyndai's, which is now in the same ballpark with Honda and Toyota. Hyundai seems to be on a roll piling up a lot of awards recently on its Sonata. I do like their styling on the Sonata, the Azera, and even the new Santa Fe SUV (a bit off topic).
